Where it all Began - the game's ending in Far Cry 5 Far Cry 5 Guide and Walkthrough

This page contains our walkthrough for Where it all Began mission in Far Cry 5. This is the final story mission that leads to one of the two available endings. Below you can find the walkthrough for this mission as well as instructions that will help you unlock the final part of Far Cry 5's campaign.

Unlocking Far Cry 5s main endings

Where it all Began mission appears automatically in your journal after defeating John, Faith and Jacob Seed. This means that you have to complete the following story quests:

1. The Atonement, Wrath and The Quality of Mercy in Holland Valley (John's region).
2. The Lesson, Paradise Lost and Walk the Path in Henbane River (Faith's region).
3. Only You and Causalities of War in Whitetail Mountains (Jacob's region).

After completing these missions, you should be able to see a new mission marker on Joseph's island.

NOTE - Make a copy of your current save before you start this mission. This can be done on PC (find the saves catalogue on your drive) and PS4 (copy the saves on an USB drive). There are two reasons for that:

1. You can see only one of the two main endings. After that you are back in the game's world. You can still travel around Hope County and do other missions but the game won't allow you to play its finale for the second time.
2. There may be an error that prohibits you from playing the game after watching its ending. The problem here is that after hitting continue you can be reverted back to a part that takes place before the game's ending. There are two solutions - run the game again or quickly open the map and use fast travel option to travel to any of the locations.

Meet with Joseph Seed

Head to the church on Joseph's island, the same one you have visited in the prologue. After reaching that place you have to watch a cut-scene. Then, your character has to make a decision - this moment is presented in the picture above. This choice affects the game's ending.

Ending 1 - Resist the Father

Choose the upper option (Resist) to initiate this ending.

You have to face Joseph Seed. This is an unusual battle. You have to spend a lot of time on saving your allies from Bliss. Start by attacking your allies and knocking them down. After that you have to approach them and revive. Of course, Joseph will try to stop you. If he reaches someone first then that person will remain under the influence of Bliss. You have to save 12 characters.

Attack Joseph in-between the moments when you are saving your allies. This is very simple to do - just find him and shoot with any of the weapons.

Save 12 characters to end this battle. After that you have to shoot Joseph and deplete his entire health bar.

This isn't over. Watch another cut-scene. After that you must drive to the bunker located on Dutch's island. This part is very simple. Keep reaching new markers. Avoid collisions with other vehicles and obstacles. Reach the island and jump in your vehicle.

You can continue playing the game after watching the end credits.

Ending 2 - Walk away

Choose the bottom option (Walk Away) to initiate this ending.

This ending doesn't feature any interactive parts. Simply watch the final cut-scene during which your character leaves Joseph's island.
