Death Wish in Holland Valley Far Cry 5 Guide and Walkthrough

Death Wish is one of the main quests in Far Cry 5 that takes place in Holland Valley. You have to help Merle Briggs. This walkthrough contains information on how to save Merle Briggs from the cultists and how to retrieve his jeep called the Death Wish. This vehicle is one of the rewards for completing this mission. We recommend completing this quest during the early stage of the campaign because it unlocks access to other missions. Besides that, it will also give you a lot of resistance points.

Saving Merle Briggs and unlocking the mission
Merle Briggs is kept hostage by the cultists. Reach Silver Lake Trailer Park located in the north part of Holland Valley (the picture above). You can start, e.g. near Rae-Rae's Pumpkin Farm where Man's Best Friend main quest took place. From there you can head north by following one of the main roads.
There are a few cultists in the trailer park. Merle is one of their hostages. The best way to eliminate enemies is to perform stealth takedowns (scout the area beforehand). Thanks to that they won't call for reinforcements. Save Merle and speak with him to unlock this quest.
Note - The mission won't fail immediately after Merle falls down on the ground. Get closer to the man and help him.
Liberate US Auto
Merle asks you to retrieve his vehicle called the Death Wish. You have to go to US Auto (a garage) located far to the south-west of the trailer park.
Reach the outpost. You should now try to be stealthy and focus on eliminating the cultists without raising an alarm. Watch out for the sniper on one of the rooftops (the picture above shows that enemy). The best way to eliminate him is to use a bow or a sniper rifle (preferably with a silencer). Your objective is to capture the outpost.
Retrieve the Death Wish and ride with Merle
Merle's car isn't in US Auto. Speak with the man and go to Golden Galley Gas located east from here. The Death Wish is parked near one of the fuel distributors (see the picture). You can:
- Quickly eliminate the driver and the nearby cultists (preferably by using a sniper rifle).
- Chase the Death Wish. Use any of the vehicles, catch up with the jeep and shoot the enemy driver.
After that you have to drive the jeep and go back to the garage.
The last part of the mission is to accompany Merle in his journey to Reservoir Construction Yard (wait for Merle to man the car's turret). There, you have to destroy green crates with cultist supplies (9 in total). The last part is to kill all enemies in this location - you can drive over them or let Merle kill the cultists.
Rewards for completing the mission: Death Wish (a jeep with a turret on its roof - stay behind its wheel or call it from any of the garages), 600 resistance points.
