This page of the Fallout 76 Wastelanders guide has a walkthrough for Wayward Souls quest. This is the first quest of the new main storyline. Read this page to learn how to start this quest and the Wastelanders expansion.
Start the quest
The Wayward Souls quest begins automatically after approaching two characters standing outside Vault 76 - Isela and Lacey. If you have created a new character in Fallout 76 Wastelanders, you will meet these mentioned within the first few minutes of the game. If you are playing as an existing character, just go to Vault 76 and talk to these two women.
Go to Wayward
After the conversation, you will be directed to Wayward, a location southeast of Vault 76. The exact location will be marked on your map - the location isn't far away. When you get there, you will see a ruined building - go inside it.
Meet with Batter and Duchess
Inside, you will see a Batter pointing a gun at Duchess. You can solve this situation in a number of ways, but this won't affect the quest itself. You can kill Batter right away, or you can talk to him, and then:
- Choose Perception 2+ or Luck 2+ dialog option - Batter will get killed by Mort.
- Choose Charisma 2+ option to find a peaceful solution.
- Choose the attack dialog option to kill Batter.
Of course, these dialog options require enough points in specific SPECIAL attributes. You can also simply watch the situation - Batter will be killed by Mort.
Finishing the quest
After solving the situation described above, all you have to do is talk to the Duchess. This completes the Wayward Souls quest - your rewards are over 200 experience points, a few Stimpaks, and a bottle of alcohol. You also unlock another Fallout 76 Wastelanders quest - Hunter for Hire.
