Last update: 07 September 2022

F1 Manager 2022 sessions can be time-consuming due to the long race duration. On this page of the guide you will find out whether there is an option to shorten the number of laps, e.g. to 25% or 50%. In addition, we explain how to use fast-forward and what limitations it brings.

Race duration - can it be changed?

Conducting further and further race weekends in F1 Manager 2022 can be time-consuming by default. For example, training sessions last 60-90 minutes, while an average F1 race takes 90-120 minutes. Information on the number of laps can be read from their descriptions in the GP preparation window.

Unfortunately, the game does not have the option to decrease the number of laps, e.g. by 25% or 50%. The races always take up the same amount of time, but you can make the time go faster with techniques described on this page.

Skipping (simulating) races

The game allows you to - F1 Manager 2022: Race duration - can you lower the number of laps? - FAQ - F1 Manager 2022 Guide

The game allows you to:

  1. Simulating individual or all training sessions - by giving control over to your subordinates. In most cases, the end result is satisfactory, but sometimes you won't be able to get the car setup right and the driver may have worse results during the actual race.
  2. Simulating qualifiers - we don't recommend this option, as by taking control yourself, you can easily choose the perfect moment to enter the track, which will make your drivers not slowed down by other cars and the track will be properly rubberized.

Fast-forward

You can fast-forward every racing session (be it practice, qualifiers, or races) - F1 Manager 2022: Race duration - can you lower the number of laps? - FAQ - F1 Manager 2022 Guide

You can fast-forward every racing session (be it practice, qualifiers, or races). The appropriate button activating this option can be found at the bottom of the screen.

There is also a pause button in the same place, which, for a change, can be used to calmly think through the next steps related to the current racing strategy.

You can fast-forward with speed of up to 16x - F1 Manager 2022: Race duration - can you lower the number of laps? - FAQ - F1 Manager 2022 Guide

You can fast-forward with speed of up to 16x. We do not recommend going full speed, except if you have already completed, your objective during the given practice or qualifiers and you want to finish them faster.

If you want to stay in the 3D overview, the maximum fast-forward speed is 2x. 4x and higher fast-forward speeds are only available in isometric mode. We recommend getting through calmer moments with 2x acceleration, and returning back to 1x when needed.

By default, the game has the option to stop or restore 1x speed at important moments - F1 Manager 2022: Race duration - can you lower the number of laps? - FAQ - F1 Manager 2022 Guide

By default, the game has the option to stop or restore 1x speed at important moments:

  1. The game may be paused if you have to make an important decision over the radio, e.g. related to a mandatory pitstop in a race.
  2. Gameplay may revert to 1x if something more important happens during the session.

We advise you to leave these settings on so you don't miss out on important events that you sometimes need to respond to quickly.
