You can edit the protagonist's appearance in F1 22. From our guide you will learn whether the game has a character creator, how to modify the gender and face, how to change clothes (casual outfits and race gear categories), and more.
The character's gender and face
When you start F1 22 for the first time, the game will select a character for you, i.e. your racing driver. You can change the default choice at any time and any number of times. Navigate to the F1 Life section, then Customization and Driver Profile. There you'll find the Customize Your Driver.
The game doesn't have a full character creator. You can select between premade models of men and women of different skin colors, appearances and hairstyles. You won't be able to customize your face any further (e.g. by choosing a different hairstyle or changing the nose or mouth shape). The selected character will appear in the F1 Life mode screens.
You can also create a separate character by starting one of the available careers. Their appearance can be different from your "main" character. These characters will exist independently of each other.
Casual outfits and race gear
The game also allows you to change the clothes of the main character. This is done by navigating to the F1 Life section, then Customization and Casual & Race Wear.
- The casual outfit is the one that appears in your F1 Life section, that is, between races.
- The race gear is worn while racing. It'll be visible in all racing sessions involving your character (when you're not playing as one of the real F1 or F2 drivers).
You can change the color of your clothes with some of the unlocked items. These usually include one or more color options of a given outfit.
At the start, the game only offers a small amount of casual and race outfits. More clothes can be:
- Bought with Pitcoins, i.e. the premium currency - To get them, head to the Brand Shop.
- Unlocked by advancing the Podium Pass - Cosmetic items (including clothes) can be earned by leveling up.
