Elex: Where to find better weapons at the start? Elex Guide

Last update: 27 November 2022

At the beginning of Elex, Jax uses a weak iron rod that is only useful against the weakest enemies. You can also find a rusty axe after leaving the ruins but this weapon is also very weak. Below, you can find tips that can teach you where and how you can find better weapons that are useful in the initial parts of the game.

Warning - Some of these weapons require you to develop certain attributes of your character. You can decide whether you want to find that particular weapon or you want to get another one.

Traders from Goliet

Hatchet is a good compromise - its requirements arent high and it deals more damage than the starting weapons - Elex: Where to find better weapons at the start? - FAQ - Elex Game Guide

Visiting one of the traders in Goliet (the Berserkers' headquarters) is the most obvious method of acquiring better weapons in the initial parts of the game. Armor Smith offers:

  4. Two-handed Iron Hammer for 930 Elexit (you need 38 Strength and 19 Constitution)
  5. War Shield for 500 Elexit (you need 20 Strength and 30 Constitution)

Horned Sword hangs on one of the walls in Angrim's house which is located in Goliet (the picture). Taking it is treated as theft so the only safe way to get it is to sneak into the house during a night (activate stealth mode). It is a good sword that can be used after gaining a few levels. Its requirements are rather low - 28 Strength and Dexterity points.

There, you can find Rider who is visited, e.g. during Medicine for the Hunters side quest. This weapon belongs to him which means that you must steal it from a table when Rider is sleeping or when he is facing the other direction (or if you didn't rescue him and he was killed by jackals).
