Magic exists in Elex 2, although Jax initially doesn't have access to it. You won't have magic for the first dozen or so hours in the game, so you'll have to rely on melee or ranged combat.

Magic becomes available only if you join the appropriate faction by meeting the quest requirements for joining it. The game will then unlock the type of magic associated with the faction.

The first faction that allows you to use magic are the Berserkers - joining them will unlock access to fire spells.

The second faction are the Albs - joining them will unlock access to ice spells - Elex 2: Magic and spellcasting - how to unlock? - Jax and character development - Elex 2 Guide

The second faction are the Albs - joining them will unlock access to ice spells.

You can read about the Berserkers and Albs, as well as about what you need to do to join them on the Faactions page.

After joining a given faction, you will gain access to a new category of skills - you will be able to spend skill points to increase mana, as well as buy and improve spells - Elex 2: Magic and spellcasting - how to unlock? - Jax and character development - Elex 2 Guide

After joining a given faction, you will gain access to a new category of skills - you will be able to spend skill points to increase mana, as well as buy and improve spells. Try to save your skill points before joining the Berserkers or Albs. This will allow you to buy a few skills right from the start, without needing to slowly collect new skill points.

The Intelligence attribute is associated with magic - developing it increases the amount of mana. You also need intelligence points to unlock new spells/skills. Remember about it, and if you want to play as a mage, develop intelligence before unlocking access to magic.

Once you've joined the appropriate faction, you need to find a Skill Trainer related to that faction - Elex 2: Magic and spellcasting - how to unlock? - Jax and character development - Elex 2 Guide

Once you've joined the appropriate faction, you need to find a Skill Trainer related to that faction. To do so, take a look around the Fort (Berserkers) or the Depository (Albs). As with other Skill Trainers, you need to have at least 1 free skill point and pay with elexit for the lesson.
