This page of the Elex 2 game guide contains the walkthrough of the Gas in the Mine mission. You will receive it from Scrappy after completing the Underground mission. Conversation with Fenris
First you have to go to Fenris and inform him about the situation in the mine. He will give you 1000 Elexit crystals. After the conversation, go back to Scrappy.
Return to Scrappy
Now you have to decide if you want to give the crystals to Scrappy. By donating the crystals, you will get more experience points. Additionally, you will receive 200 Elexit crystals from this pool later in the mission.
Finding the source of gas in the mine
Now you will proceed to the main objective of the mission, i.e. the titular gas in the mine. You have to go to the nearby mine, which you have already visited during the Underground quest. Scrappy will give you a gas mask that will make it easier to travel through the areas with contaminated air. However, the mask itself isn't enough - you also need to get some items that increase your poison resistance. Potions and food will help you with this. Potato salad is a good example and you can either make it yourself or buy it from traders.
Important information - you're unable to recover health while poisoned. Drinking potions or eating food won't heal your character. After putting on the gas mask, its durability bar will be displayed on the screen - once it drops to zero, the poison gas will start to damage your health. This forces you to quickly traverse the mine. The gas source is at the end of the right corridor. Run there - you will notice the source of the gas after Jax's comment. Now you can go back to Scrappy.
It's a good idea to search the entire mine and dig up some iron ore in this location, as it's useful for crafting, trading and completing the Thorhild's Cultivators quest. Exploring the entire mine in one go is difficult, but after your health drops too low, you can exit, heal yourself and come back again. This way you will get all the items from the bodies, collect the loot from the ground and mine the ore.
Obtaining gas masks and completing the mission
After returning to Scrappy and providing information about the gas source, he will ask you to get 5 gas masks. The easiest way is to buy them from Ivan in the Fort's commercial district. Regardless of how you have obtained the masks, return to Scrappy to complete the Gas in the Mine mission in Elex 2.
