Last update: 19 January 2022

This page of the Dying Light 2 guide has general information about the choices. You can find out if there are important choices in the game and when they happen, if the choices can affect the course of the game, and if they can be classified as typical good and bad ones.

Important story choices

The most important decisions happen during the main quests - Dying Light 2: Choices - are they in the game? - World and game information - Dying Light 2 Guide

The most important decisions happen during the main quests. They are not only choices, but also ways of behaving, e.g. how you want to do a mission or which allies you want to have. Your character's behavior affects the environment, it can change it, block certain places and lead to others.

Many important choices require you to make decisions under time pressure. Besides the options, you can also see a counter. You can "cheat" a bit here - after reading all the choices, pause the game so that you can choose the option without the pressure. The counter then stops.

It is not possible to see all the choices in a single playthrough. This is because the game doesn't allow you to manually save your progress (saves are only automatic). All decisions are final and you must live with them. We have described all the important choices in a separate chapter of the guide.

Minor choices

In addition to major choices, some quests also feature less important decisions - Dying Light 2: Choices - are they in the game? - World and game information - Dying Light 2 Guide

In addition to major choices, some quests also feature less important decisions. The choice of a dialog option or a behavior option may affect, for example, the conversation with a given NPC, let you avoid or participate in an additional fight, or get or lose unique rewards. However, this does not have to affect the main storyline.

Dialog options

Not all encounters with other characters are related to story choices - Dying Light 2: Choices - are they in the game? - World and game information - Dying Light 2 Guide

Not all encounters with other characters are related to story choices. You can also just talk to them. The dialog options are divided as follows:

  1. White dialogue options are for asking additional questions. Selecting them won't advance the conversation.
  2. Yellow dialogue options are for moving the conversation forward. At least two such options mean that you will have to make a choice.

Factions

Choices made during the playthrough of Dying Light 2 are directly linked with the two main factions - the Peacekeepers and Survivors - Dying Light 2: Choices - are they in the game? - World and game information - Dying Light 2 Guide

Choices made during the playthrough of Dying Light 2 are directly linked with the two main factions - the Peacekeepers and Survivors. There is also a third faction (Renegades), but it plays a slightly different role.

During the campaign, Peacekeepers and Survivors will try to take control over the city districts. You can help or disturb them. Handing districts over to a given faction gives you valuable profits - for example, you can receive valuable equipment or spawn structures that help in parkour in a given district. We have described this topic on a separate page - Factions and city alignment.

Good and evil system

Dying Light 2 doesn't have a morality system. The choices you make are based on your conscience. You can never predict the consequences of your decisions, which can sometimes have unexpectedly long-lasting effects. Later in the campaign, you can, for example, find out that a character associated with a certain choice has been murdered or that they have become more influential and are grateful for your support.
