This page of the Dying Light 2 guide answers how long the game is and how many hours you can spend in it.

Last update: 20 January 2022

On this page of our guide, you will find the answer to the question: How long is Dying Light 2. You will learn how much time you will have to spend on completing the main missions, and how much on doing every side mission and finding all secrets.

Main storyline length

Completing the main storyline in Dying Light 2 should take you about 20 hours - Dying Light 2: Games length - Appendix - Dying Light 2 Guide

Completing the main storyline in Dying Light 2 should take you about 20 hours. The game does not have too many main quests, although the missions you receive are usually extensive. Additionally, before starting some story missions, it is advisable to spend time with the additional game content to advance your character and get better equipment for him.

In Dying Light 2, some important choices influence the course of the main story and may unlock or block certain quests. If you want to know the plot and the consequences of your decisions, you may have to go through the story mode more than one time. The additional problem is that the game does not allow you to save your progress manually, so you can't get back to, for example, a scene with a choice and pick up another option.

Side quests and activities

Dying Light 2 has a lot of extra content to offer that can extend your time in the game to 80 hours or more. As part of exploring the game world and developing the main character, you will find many side quests that offer engaging content and unique rewards.

There are also a lot of icons of additional activities on the world map that involve exploring dangerous locations, completing challenges, unlocking new safe zones, or taking over key structures in the city. All these kinds of things can significantly increase the total play time.

Secrets and collectibles, discovering 100% of the game content

In Dying Light 2, there are several hundred secrets and collectibles to find. Unfortunately, obtaining them is very troublesome because most of them are not marked in any way (except for inhibitors). You cannot make it easier in any way to locate them and add them to your collection. As a result, you might have to carefully explore all the locations to make sure you didn't miss any collectibles.

Problematic collectibles also influence the difficulty of unlocking the platinum trophy, as one of its requirements is to obtain 100% of the secrets available. There are also other problematic achievements in the game, for example, one that requires collecting 1 million local currency, which can take a lot of grind.

If you want to complete the game in 100%, you have to reckon that you will spend up to several hundred hours with it. That is, assuming you want to complete all quests, experience the consequences of all choices, watch all endings, explore all optional locations, find 100% of the secrets and unlock platinum throphy.
