While fishing in Dredge, you will encounter mutated counterparts of common species. This page of the guide contains a walkthrough of the Grotesque Fish mission, where you will catch your first Aberration and meet the Collector character.

Unlocking the quest - catching Aberrant Fish
Grotesque Fish Pursuit will automatically unlock when you catch your first Aberration Fish after completing the Caught to Order Persuit. These types of fish appear randomly in the game world. Look for fisheries with a distinctive colorful glow and complete the mini-game.

Delivering Aberrant Fish to Fishmonger

The Fishmonger can be found in Greater Marrow. Talk to him and hand over the strange fish. The merchant will cut the fish open and give you the Handkerchief he finds inside.
As it turns out, the Handkerchief picked up the interest of a certain character. The object is a story item and has no interesting use - it is only used to complete a Pursuit. You can tell by the purple background of the slot in the cargo hold.
Sailing to Blackstone Isle

A mysterious figure will ask you to visit him on Blackstone Isle. The island is located in the southern part of The Marrows area. Check out the map above to find this area easily.
Enter the Ruined Mansion to talk to the man. It turns out to be the Collector, who will give you a new mission and answer a few questions. From now on, you'll also have access to mine treasures and materials with the dredge action.
