Fish and treasures requiring a Hadal rod
You can find Hadal fisheries in Stellar Basin. By default, it is not possible for you to buy or research a Hadal fishing rod. In addition, in the central part of Stellar Basin you might be attacked by an underwater monster. You have to solve both of these problems.
Advancing in the Research Assistant quest
Visit the Old Fortress in Stellar Basin to meet the Researcher and start the Research Assistant quest. You have to make sufficient progress in this quest: catch the specimens indicated by the woman and obtain Prototype Parts.
You will receive a Sampling Device from an NPC (Abyssal rod) and the Repulsion Machine (to be installed at the Research Outpost).

Invention and installation of the first Hadal fishing rod
By advancing in the Research Assistant quest, you will unlock the ability to research the Hadal rod - the Bottomless Lines rod will appear in the Research menu. You need to use 1 Research Part to unlock it.
The rod needs to be purchased. Visit any merchant, such as the Traveling Merchant in Starlight Pontoon. By default, it costs $450 and requires 4 slots in the hold.
An additional requirement is to temporarily get rid of the Stellar Basin monster. Therefore, you need to install the Replusion Machine at the Research Outpost generator and activate it. While the generator is active, the beast will not attack your ship.
You can now sail through the central part of Stellar Basin and visit Hadal locations to:
- catch fish at Hadal fisheries;
- fish out the Jewel Encrusted Brand relic for the Collector (The Collector quest).
The best Hadal rod
There is a better rod for Hadal fisheries than the one described above (Bottomless Lines). You can research the Fathomless Winch rod in the Research menu - it costs 3 Research Parts. Its main advantages are:
- the possibility to catch fish faster;
- the fact that it also works in the Abyssal and Oceanic fisheries - this will allow you to reduce the number of rods installed on your ship.
