Here you can view a list of all Rods appearing in the game along with information regarding their statistics and types of fishing areas you can use them in. Moreover, we discuss the best Rods which can be used to fish out rare specimens or fish much faster than standard models.

Best Rod

There are 2 Rods that take top spots in the ranking. These are:

Fathomless Winch - allows fishing in Abyssal, Hadal and Oceanic locations.
Harvesting Platform - allows fishing in Coastal, Shallow and Oceanic locations.

Additionally, you should occasionally switch to a Versatile Rod to be able to fish in Mangrove and Volcanic areas.

Basic Fishing Field

This is the basic Rod with which you start the game. Can only be used in Coastal areas.

Simple Skimmer

Price: $75 - buyable from the Shipwright in Greater Marrow .

Installation time: 2 hours

Fishing Areas: Shallow

Fishing speed: 10%

Cargo slots occupied: 2

This is one of the Rods that can be used in Shallow areas. We recommend skipping this one and saving for Weighted Line, which offers much better fishing speed.

Weighted Line

Price: $150 - buyable from the Shipwright in Greater Marrow .

Installation time: 3 hours

Fishing Areas: Shallow

Fishing speed: 40%

Cargo slots occupied: 3

A much better choice for initial fishing in Shallow areas, mostly because of its increased fishing speed.

Flexible Fishing Pole

Research Parts: 2 (go to the Shipwright after donating the parts)

Price: $460

Installation time: 3 hours

Areas: Coastal, Shallow

Fishing speed: 45%

Cargo slots occupied: 3

The main advantage of this Rod is that you can use it in the 2 most popular fishing areas, without the need for a separate rod for Coastal and Shallow areas.

Hydraulic Rod

Research Parts: 1 (visit the Shipwright after donating the parts)

Price: $410

Installation time: 4 hours

Areas: Oceanic

Fishing speed: 50%

Cargo slots: 4

This is the first Rod dedicated to Oceanic areas, opening before you completely new schools of fish.

Heat-Resistant Line

Research Parts: 2 (go to the Shipwright after donating the parts)

Price: $330

Installation time: 3 hours

Areas: Volcanic, Shallow

Fishing speed: 55%

Cargo slots: 4

This is the first Rod dedicated to Volcanic areas, opening before you completely new schools of fish.

Anti Tangle Line

Research Parts: 2 (go to the Shipwright after donating the parts)

Price: $350

Installation time: 3 hours

Areas: Mangrove, Coastal

Fishing speed: 55%

Cargo slots: 4

This is the first rod that allows you to fish in Mangrove fishing areas, which means receiving access to new types of fish.

Versatile Rod

Research Parts: 4 (visit a Shipwright after dontating the parts)

Price: $600

Installation time: 5 hours

Fishing areas: Coastal, Shallow, Mangrove, Volcanic

Fishing rate: 83%

Cargo slots: 6

The main advantage of this Rod is that you can use it in 4 different Fishing Areas. Perfect for replacing common Rods, but also for Heat-Resistant Line and Anti-Tangle Line described above. Make sure to develop cargo space (thanks to Upgrades) so you have the needed slots for equipping it.

Sampling Device

Installation time: 3 hours

Fishing Areas: Abyssal

Fishing speed: 11%

Cargo slots occupied: 3

This device is also treated as a Fishing Rod, and you can get it after completing the quest from Research Assistant in Stellar Basin (visit the Researcher in Old Fortress). It allows fishing in Abyssal areas, but has a disadvantage - Fishing Speed is low.

Bottomless Lines

Research Parts: 1 (visit the Shipwright after donating the parts)

Price: $450

Installation time: 4 hours

Fishing Areas: Abyssal, Hadal

Fishing rate: 38%

Cargo slots: 6

This is a special fishing rod, the schematic of which you will unlock after completing the quest for Research Assistant in Stellar Basin (you receive it from the Researcher NPC). Once unlocked, it has to be bought. Replaces the Sampling Device and unlocks another Fishing Area - Hadal. You're going to need to visit Hadal sites to get one of the relics.

Fathomless Winch

Research Parts: 3 (go to the Shipwright after donating the parts)

Fishing Areas: Abyssal, Hadal, Oceanic

Fishing rate: 83%

Cargo slots: 4

A better Rod than Bottomless Lines described above. Allows access to Abyssal and Hadal areas, and on top of it, Oceanic areas. The fishing speed is also increased, and the Rod takes less inventory space.
