This chapter of the guide to Dreams focuses on the matter of copyrights in the game. Is it possible to use popular songs or characters from other games? Can you create, for example, your own adventures of Mario? Answers can be found below.
We must highlight that the matter of copyrights isn't completely clear yet. The developers are pretty clear that they want to support creators who create unique works. In the created dreams, users cannot place songs and music from other commercial works. They also cannot create characters from other games or movies. Such works violate the intellectual property of other creators and will be probably deleted or punished in other ways.
Media Molecule shared the creator with the users for them to create their own, unique projects, without copying from other projects. When creating dreams, the players should think creatively and only take inspiration from other works, not copy them directly. Of course, it is possible to create a copy of a favorite game or movie scene and block the dream so that it is private and inaccessible for other users. But in that case, only the creator and a handful of close friends will be able to see it.
The matter of copyrights might change later. For now, it is better to focus on creating unique dreams that don't copy popular motives.
