This chapter presents information that may help people that are not too familiar with the game. Although, in its mechanics, Dragon's Dogma is very similar to typical RPG games, there are several elements that are specific to this game.

You can obtain metals and stones from rock

If you want to take up crafting, get a pickaxe at the very beginning, thanks to which you will be able to mine for ores in interesting locations. You can exploit each deposit 3-5 times, by mining for materials

Remember that some of the side quests have a time limit. Do not accept too many quests at once and try to be consistent in completing them.

Deposit crafting materials and items that you want to keep in inns. In each one of them, you can immediately access your items, so you do not need to carry everything around with you (e.g. weapon upgrades).

It isn't necessary for you to pick up everything you find - the inventory you carry has an effect on your speed of movement and your stamina. Heavy load makes you an easy target for your opponents.

Make sure that you have food and healing potions on you, at all times. Also, it is a good thing to have something that raises your stamina.

Your allies - pawns - also pick up items. While selling items from your inventory, heck out if they have something valuable. Also, you can split the load with them, if you carry too much.

Inside shipwrecks at coasts, you can find a lot of gold - General hints - Basic information - Dragons Dogma - Game Guide and Walkthrough
Inside shipwrecks at coasts, you can find a lot of gold

It is relatively easy to find rare items at coasts and during the night (all the "glowing" items. Also plants have much higher value if only you pick them at night. Many rare items are also in chests and these often are hidden among rocks, in bushes and on rooftops

remember that food goes off after a time. Not only does It become inedible, but it can become less valuable, e.g. a big fish that costs 400 gold pieces may, out of a sudden, become completely worthless. Meat and fish go off the fastest. Then fruit and vegetables. Herbs or nuts are free of that problem.

Try not to travel at night. Fighting is exceptionally difficult then. You can spend the night in any inn, for a small pay. Remember that you can use the lantern to make traveling at night easier. After a while, though, you can decide that the strength of light is not as high as it used to be - it is when you need to add oil.

How to obtain materials: the majority of wooden crates can be smashed and thanks to this, you can sometimes find something of value (at least, at the beginning of the game). Many such stashes are hidden from sight, which is why thorough exploration is a good idea. Also, you need to remember that many of such places can be searched for loot multiple times (e.g. buried treasures).

Remember that you constantly need to get food. You can kill wild animals to find meat, or pick plants (which your pawns will be helpful at). To get fish, find a small shoal above the surface of water, stand above it and press the interaction button.

Game saves are quite problematic, in Dragon's Dogma. There are two forms of saves present - own saves that you make at any moment of the game, apart from combat, and checkpoints. Since checkpoints are a rarity, you need to make your own saves. Before each save you make, it is a good idea to consider that, because there is only one slot available and each save you make supplants the previous one.
