The Sing karaoke short quest will be added to the journal after examining the microphone in the hotel's bar. Below you will read how to start and finish this task in Disco Elysium.
Starting the quest
To start the quest, you need to examine the sound system and not ignore the voices of the Inner Empire (purple orb). Express the desire to sing - your previous conversation with Klaasje (details about musical knowledge) and a recorded tape found in the room may be helpful. But to be able to sing, you need a new tape with a song - the task will be put on hold for now.

On the third day after the opening of the water gate, walk directly towards the abandoned cottage. You will find a hidden storage compartment in the back of it containing a tape with a recording.
Convince Garte
The final stage of the task is to persuade Garte to let Harry sing. You don't have to do any favors for him, though in case of problems you can always try to bring him a stuffed bird. The key argument in the conversation is the fact that you covered the costs of Sunday night and paid for the room.
Sing karaoke tonight
You won't be able to sing until around 8 p.m. Interact with the microphone. Choose the option to look around the room, but don't check if the microphone is working. This will increase stress and make the skill check more difficult. To complete the task, you must pass the red Drama skill check. However, the task will be complete even if you fail - you will receive XP regardless of how you did.
