The Thought Cabinet is a mechanic in Disco Elysium that allows the Player to see what thoughts are going through the main character's head and gain additional bonuses from them. Note that some thoughts can have a negative effect on Harrier, causing him to receive harmful modifiers.

How to research thought?

In Disco Elysium, you'll make various choices, and it's these can unlock thoughts that can later be research to customize the main character to fit your play style.

To research a thought, go to the Thought Cabinet tab, select a free slot, then a thought from the list on the right and click Internalize to begin the research. Research time varies depending on the type of thought and can take several dozens of minutes to several hours. After a certain amount of time in the game passes, the thought will be internalized and equipped permanently, providing a specific bonus.

Some thoughts during research provide a Temporary Research Bonus and can increase or decrease a character's stats. The temporary bonus disappears when the thought is fully internalized.

How to stop thought research?

You can stop the thought research process at any time. To do this, select a specific thought and then click the Stop button. When you stop the process, the thought keeps its current status and returns to the list (frees the thought slot up), from where you will be able to check its internalization process percentage. You can choose this thought at any time and begin the further research.

If you have a thought on your list that provides a temporary bonus to a skill it is about to be tested, it makes sense to start the research process and increase your chances of solving it. After the process, you can stop the thought research without any consequences.

How to remove thought?
