Trivia | Whimsyshire Diablo III Guide

Last update: 11 May 2016

A long time ago, back when many players were enjoying the first part of the Diablo series, there was a rumor about a hidden secret level. It involved three cows grazing around the town of Tristram. Rumor had it that if you clicked the cows enough times, there appeared a portal leading to a cow level where you had to fight huge mooing beasts.

In time, the legend of the cow level grew so popular that Blizzard decided to place such location in Diablo II. After finding specific items and combining them in the Horadric Cube, the player could go to a location which had gigantic cows equipped with deadly scythes running around on hind legs.

It was an open secret that, similarly to the second part of the series, Diablo III also contained a hidden level - Trivia | Whimsyshire - Whimsyshire - Diablo III Game Guide

It was an open secret that, similarly to the second part of the series, Diablo III also contained a hidden level. This time, though, the caption "There is no Cow Level", which appears on the loading screen, is true. The place we're going to visit has (almost) nothing in common with these lovely animals.

Whimsyshire, the land we're talking about, is a vibrant location inhabited by unusual creatures. They live among bright green pastures with smiling clouds and colorful rainbows floating in the above their heads. It's nothing other than Blizzard's inside joke on all the allegations that Diablo III supposedly has sweet and sugary graphics.

Whimsyshire is also a place rich in gold and unique magic items. Depending on the difficulty level, we can find equipment matching our character's current level and face more challenging opponents. For example, Whimsyshire on Hell is comparable to Hell in Act III or IV, while Inferno will be as challenging as Act IV on the same level.
