Using one of the doors in Bastion's Keep Stronghold allows the main character to travel to Keep Depths Level 1. This is where you may encounter Ironsmith Maldonado. He should be standing in a corridor surrounded by lava and it's a good idea to talk to him.

Defeat the skeletons from the ambush

The ironsmith will begin his job and your task will be to defend him from Skeletal Marauders.

Kill the remaining Skeletal Marauders

Once the time is up you'll have to deal with the remaining skeletons.

Talk to Ironsmith Maldonado

After you've secured the area return to Ironsmith Maldonado and talk to him to end this event. It's worth adding that you'll also be allowed to trade with him.
