You will encounter Sergeant Burroughs while exploring the Stonefort. To be more specific, he should be standing near one of the catapults. Talk to him to learn about the current situation.

Destroy the barricade

Follow the sergeant to the barricade. You must destroy it and also defeat several demons.

Protect the recruits as they raise the catapult

The recruits will start using the winches to raise the catapult and your job is to protect them from demon attacks. You'll know that the catapult has been raised properly when a red bar seen near the right edge of the screen will become fully filled. This event will end just after that.
