Extracting essences

Each Legendary item offers a boost or modification to a selected skill - this is called Essence. You can take Essence from any item and use it on another. To do that, visit the Essence Transfer shop in Westmarch.

1. By extracting Essence, you destroy the item and pay 3,000 gold pieces,
2. Once extracted, an Essence can be transferred to another item an unlimited number of times,
3. You can only transfer Essence to an item of the same type (if you obtained it from an armor, you can only transfer it to another armor),
4. In the Essence extraction window, you can check all possible Essences for a given hero class and their characteristics.

You can view the list of available Essences in the extraction panel.

In order to extract, you need to find the item you want to extract the Essence from on the list. The item cannot be equipped - it must be in the inventory. If an item is highlighted, it means that you have already obtained the Essence of that type and you cannot obtain it again - the item can only be salvaged if you have no other use for it (e.g. a different build in the Armory).

Inherit

Any item of the same type can inherit the property of another item. First, you have to extract the Essence (see above), then you can choose the Essence you want to transfer to the new item for free. The main purpose of this is to be able to leave the desired Essence while acquiring a new piece of equipment and use an item with better stats.
