On this page, you can learn how to craft and upgrade items at the Blacksmith in Diablo Immortal. You will learn how to increase an item's rank, how to salvage unnecessary items, and how to reforge.
Basic information about upgrading
Leveling up your character in Diablo Immortal isn't just about gaining new levels and collecting items. You also have to upgrade them at the Blacksmith. Fortunately, upgrades move between items. This means: that when you upgrade a helmet and replace it with a newly found one, the upgrades will be carried over. The same goes for Legendary Gems placed in items.
It is a bit different in the case of accessories - belts, amulets, and rings. You can place Normal Gems of the same color available for that item (items also have a variable number of stone slots). In this case, gems will also be automatically transferred, but only if the new item has space for them (quantity/color). Gems can be pulled out, however, and if you accidentally salvage an item with gems, they will be returned to you.
Salvage is the first thing you need to know. Various items can be stored in Stashes, but only Legendary items should be kept there. In the early stages of the game, it is usually enough to put on everything that has better stats than the currently worn equipment - slight differences in values and attributes will not make any special difference at the beginning.
To salvage materials from items, go to the Blacksmith. As your inventory has a limited capacity, you need to do this often, preferably on every occasion when you are in town. Now you just need to mark the items you want to salvage into parts and confirm - this service is free. Upon salvaging an item, you get all gems back (if they were in the item). Salvage materials:
- White items - 1x Salvage,
- Blue items - 3x Salvage,
- Yellow items - 1x Enchanted Dust,
- Orange items (Legendary) - 1x Glowing Shard.
Hint: use the buttons at the bottom of the window to automatically select all items of a specific class. Only Legendary items can't be salvaged automatically - you need to select them yourself.
How to upgrade?
To upgrade a piece of equipment, you need to go to the Blacksmith. If you want to upgrade Gems, go to the Apprentice Jeweler. Upgrading at low levels guarantees an increase in item's stats and attributes by 2 points. Because of that, it is worth constantly improving each of the items. Salvage is the basic resource for upgrades. You also have to pay in gold.
Higher upgrade levels also require the use of Enchanted Dust and Glowing Shards (obtained mainly by salvaging Legendary items). Accessories can also be upgraded. However, you will need a rare item - Enigmatic Crystal (obtained mainly in the Challenge Rifts).
From the fifth level onward, items will receive additional random bonuses. Also, remember that in the shop next to the Blacksmith in Westmarch, you can exchange Salvage for Enchanted Dust, Glowing Shard, and even an Enigmatic Crystal.
Items that you successfully upgrade to rank 5 will receive a random attribute. They are completely random and you can get even an "attack power boost from summoned creatures" when none of your abilities allow you to summon anyone. This is when the Blacksmith and Reforging comes to the rescue.
By using Reforge Stones (you can buy them from the Hilt Merchant or earn them for reaching specific ranks in the Battleground), you can change the attribute of a specific gear.
Additionally, by clicking on the button below an attribute in the Reforge section, you can check which attributes belong to one family. When you get 3 attributes from one group on one item, you will get an additional set attribute.
