The game can be played solo or with other players. To earn runes, you must enter the game using the Crests. You will receive one Crest for free each day after visiting the statue. You can enter the Rift without using Crests - you will then receive Experience and any items you find. Crests affect only the person using them.

Elder Rifts have the following features:

  1. You defeat enemies to generate progress. You have to fill the bar on the left for the boss to appear - you can collect the rewards only after defeating the Guardian. It is best to fight large waves of enemies than single ones. You can also look for stronger enemies marked with a skull on the mini-map.
  2. At the beginning of each game, random you will get random buffs and nerfs.
  3. The run is limited by time. You have to defeat enemies fast enough to keep the hourglass indicator moving on the bar behind at all times. Time is also moving during the fight with the final boss.
  4. By defeating monsters, you have a chance to get standard items, so make room in your inventory before entering the Rift. You also gain experience for defeating them and for combo kills.
