Endings - What Should I Know How To Unlock the Best Ending Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Guide

Last update: 21 September 2016

Below you can find a number of important tips regarding the last main quests of Deus Ex Mankind Divided and available endings. In the further part of the text you can find hints as how to unlock the best ending, i.e. how to complete both final quests in the best possible way.

Things You Should Know About the Ending

1) The grand conclusion begins when you have found heavily wounded Miller in the Apex Centre catering area at the end of Securing the Convention Centre quest. Once the meeting with Miller is over, two quests are unlocked: Stopping Marchenko and Protecting the Future. Stopping Marchenko can also begin prematurely if during your stay in the reception area you've managed to alarm Marchenko's men. In his case, Securing the Convention Centre will be canceled, and you'll proceed straight to the grand finale.

2) Once you proceed to the finale, you need to decide on your priority objective. If you want to stop Marchenko before he detonates the bombs, you have to choose Stopping Marchenko, but if you rather save Nathaniel Brown and the delegates before they get poisoned with the Orchid, you have to proceed with Protecting the Future. Both these quests aren't mutually exclusive, but if you want to get the best result in both of them, you need to make some extra effort.

3) The moment the final part commences, you have 10 minutes to stop Marchenko and/or save the delegates. If you reach Marchenko too late, he will attempt to use the detonator. If you don't stop him (using the blocking device or Marchenko's Kill Switch), he'll be able to detonate the bombs, and destroy the skyscrapers. In case you haven't been able to reach Nathaniel Brown and the delegates, they will drink the poisoned champagne (you can administer the antidote) or they'll be gone already. Summary: If you want to stop Marchenko and save the delegates, you have to complete both quests before the time elapses. Otherwise, you'll see one of the possible bad endings (skyscrapers destroyed by Marchenko's bombs and/or the death of Nathaniel Brown and the delegates).

4) The timer starts counting when Securing the Convention Centre has ended OR when you had been detected by Marchenko's men while in the middle of the quest. In the second case you'll have considerably less time to reach the locations connected to the ending.

How to Unlock the Best Ending?

Below you can find a suggested order of actions to unlock the best ending, i.e. the one that will allow us to stop Marchenko and keep all plot-connected individuals alive. More detailed walkthrough of the procedure described in following steps can be found in the chapters about quests Securing the Convention Centre, Stopping Marchenko, and Protecting the Future. Additionally, make sure you get acquainted with the description of The Heist to learn how to acquire the Orchid Neutralizing Enzyme (antidote).

Step 1 - Don't get caught by Marchenko's men while exploring the reception, and reach to the catering area undetected.

Step 2 - Once you reach the catering area, administer the antidote (the Orchid Neutralizing Agent) to James Miller in order to save his life.

Step 3 - Reach the exhibition area and begin the standard encounter with Marchenko. Strive for a quick win, in such a way that Marchenko gets stunned, so he can be arrested.

Step 4 - Find the shortcut to the delegate room on the floor and use it.

Step 5 - Once you use the shortcut, reach the room with Nathaniel Brown and the delegates before they will make a toast, so they won't drink the poisoned champagne.

Additional info for steps 1-5 - If you decide to go save Brown and the delegates first, you'll have to get through an area closely guarded by the enemies in golden masks. You can bypass them quite efficiently, but only if you have a developed camouflage and a number of biocells at hand (at least 10). Otherwise, you can lose a lot of time on the attempts to avoid or eliminate the guards. As a result, you may not have enough time to stop Marchenko before he detonates the bombs, forcing you to use the detonator blocker or the killswitch (killing Marchenko).

If you don't have the antidote, you may still save the delegates, provided you can reach them before they make a toast. In this case, Miller's death is the only "undesirable event".
