Exotic items (they have a yellow background) are the most valuable ones. They have additional unique features, often combined with, for example, special ability of your hero/heroine. At the same time, you can only carry one weapon and one item of equipment from the exotic category, and older items with interesting features can be infused by using another item of equipment. The latter means that you can transfer the power of one item to the desired item. There are a few ways to get Exotic items.

Exotic items in Destiny 2 - How to farm them?

There are only a few proven ways to acquire Exotic items in Destiny 2, which is why they are so valuable.

1. From exotic engrams, which you have the chance to get in almost any activity, mainly in public events, but with low probability (mainly in Heroic Public Events). You can also try to find them in chests scattered randomly in the game world;
2. From the Xur vendor - however, if there is no item of this type in his offer in a particular week, then you have to wait a whole week for the next opportunity;
3. You can receive an Exotic item as a reward in The Crucible but there is a very low probability of such situation;
4. While completing Nightfall: The Ordeal mission, especially on higher levels of difficulty;
