Destiny 2: How To Start, 5 Simple Steps Destiny 2 Guide

Last update: 24 March 2021

In this chapter of our Destiny 2 game guide you will learn how to start the game well by following 5 simple steps. With this simple guide, you can quickly level up your character, unlock additional bonuses, and get the necessary equipment required for further exploration of the giant world of Destiny 2.

Destiny 2, along with all DLCs, offers players a great deal, namely, the ability to explore a giant world divided into several separate planets, perform story missions, side missions, fight in arenas against other players, and participate in additional activities (events) such as random public events. Destiny 2 can also overwhelm you by the amount of weaponry, as well as the almost infinite ability to modify it. For this reason, in order to make it easier for you to begin the journey, we have prepared a short introduction to Destiny 2 in 5 simple steps that explain how to have a good start as well as prepare you for the further gameplay.

Older story campaigns

The first step you should take after logging into Destiny 2 and completing the short introduction tutorial is finding Amana Holliday, who runs her garage in The Tower. By visiting Amanda Holliday, you will be able to launch older story campaigns related to Destiny 2: Red War, Curse of Osiris and Warmind.

Red War (first icon on the left in the screen above) is a story campaign that appeared when Destiny 2 was released, so it can be considered as the original story of the in-game world - Destiny 2: How To Start, 5 Simple Steps - Basics - Destiny 2 Game Guide

Red War (first icon on the left in the screen above) is a story campaign that appeared when Destiny 2 was released, so it can be considered as the original story of the in-game world. The second campaign is The Curse of Osiris, which is slightly shorter but depicts a very interesting story. The last of the older campaigns is Warmind, which is also not among the longest, but it is worth completing to learn the lore and history of Destiny 2 before you jump into further exploration.

Completing the previous campaigns will introduce you pretty well to Destiny 2. In this part of our guide you will learn how to correctly use the Spirit (an invaluable companion of each Guardian), how to use vehicles, and how to fight against different types of opponents. What's more, you will unlock access to more planets and missions, as well as acquire the first Legendary items that can increase your character's Gear Score.

Forsaken and Shadowkeep Campaigns

If you have decided to buy an extended version of Destiny 2, which includes two DLCs that are not available in the free version, then you should play this content and take part in the other two campaigns: Forsaken and Shadowkeep.

The Forsaken campaign can be started on the planet Tangled Shore and it is quite time-consuming, but its worth the effort to learn more about the fate of the Guardians - Destiny 2: How To Start, 5 Simple Steps - Basics - Destiny 2 Game Guide

The Forsaken campaign can be started on the planet Tangled Shore and it is quite time-consuming, but it's worth the effort to learn more about the fate of the Guardians. The Shadowkeep DLC campaign is available on the Moon. However, you will not be able to explore the area without completing the introduction to this campaign in advance.

Bounties

Bounties are the main and fastest way to collect Glimmer and experience points in Destiny 2. This will help you advance to the higher levels of your Season Pass much faster and acquire some very good items. The latter will help you in leveling up your character.

Throughout the solar system, you will find many NPCs that are selling Bounties - Destiny 2: How To Start, 5 Simple Steps - Basics - Destiny 2 Game Guide

Throughout the solar system, you will find many NPCs that are selling Bounties. You can find detailed information on this subject in a separate section of this guide, which is devoted entirely to this topic. However, remember to purchase any available Bounty orders before embarking on any missions, activities or free roam exploration.

Vanguard - Strike, Nightfall: The Ordeal

After moving to the planetary view at the bottom of the screen, you will see Vanguard gameplay mode. After opening this tab, you will be able to participate in special challenges called Strike and Nightfall: The Ordeal. In these challenges, players must go through pre-prepared instances and kill the last boss to receive a reward.

Nightfall: The Ordeal challenges can be performed on different difficulty levels - the higher the difficulty level the better rewards can be obtained after successful completion of the mission - Destiny 2: How To Start, 5 Simple Steps - Basics - Destiny 2 Game Guide

Nightfall: The Ordeal challenges can be performed on different difficulty levels - the higher the difficulty level the better rewards can be obtained after successful completion of the mission. This type of activity can be joined solo, in a previously formed team, or joined by using the matchmaking system. For more information about Strike and Nightfall: The Ordeal, please check the separate chapter of this game guide.

Before you start playing in Strikes or Nightfall modes, buy additional Bounties from NPCs named Commander Zavala and Banshee-44 in The Tower, which will greatly accelerate the Season Pass leveling. For more information about Bounties, please check the separate chapter of this game guide.

Planet Exploration - Public Events

The next step to strengthen your character is to explore individual planets and perform public events. There are dozens of such events in Destiny 2 at the moment, but usually your job consists in eliminating a large number of opponents and completing certain mission objectives at the right time.

To join a public event, simply travel to a specific area and join the ongoing game - Destiny 2: How To Start, 5 Simple Steps - Basics - Destiny 2 Game Guide

To join a public event, simply travel to a specific area and join the ongoing game. You can join any event even if your character's Gear Score doesn't meet the requirements. However, you have to be careful, that is, don't cause any damage to opponents of a much higher level than yours.
