The Rat King is an exotic sidearm (a semi-automatic pistol) that can be obtained by solving a series of puzzles. It guarantees increased magazine size and bonus range when compared to similar weapons, it also grants temporary invulnerability while reloading if you have previously killed an enemy, but most importantly - a bonus to power when your allies also use this weapon (e.g. During the skirmishes in the Crucible).
To obtain the weapon, you must complete a series of three missions on Titan, which appear after the main storyline ends (the missions are in a linear order). These tasks are marked with a dark blue crown icon. When you complete all of them, you will see something in the kinetic weapon slot, it is not the weapon, but the object that will be made into the weapon after a series of puzzles (do not get rid of that object under any circumstances - you will then miss your chance to acquire the Rat King). The objectives are hidden and must be done in turn - but you are informed of the completion of each individual stage. The weapon will appear in your inventory automatically, when you complete all tasks and challenges under certain conditions. To do this you need a Guardian - another player. The list of tasks to perform in the appropriate order can be found below:
Complete a Patrol mission from Cayde-6 after completing the story, and additionally, complete any two Patrol missions with another Guardian;
Complete two public events with at least one Guardian in the team;
Play two matches in the Crucible with another Guardian;
After completing the steps mentioned above, you must complete the Nightfall Strike (available once a week) quickly enough to finish the final boss with at least 5 minutes left on the timer. This is a difficult task and it cannot be guaranteed that you will succeed on the very first try.
