Flamelurker is a fire-born boss. He attacks very aggressively, is agile and dangerous at close range. He's weak to magic damage.
General advice
- Use healing only when the boss jumps away from you to a distance that's safe for you! Flamelurker is a very agile opponent. Additionally, he can go a long way by jumping towards you. Therefore, you should heal yourself when the boss retreats.
- The boss deals mostly fire damage! Therefore, it is recommended to wear clothes that protect you well from this element. Fighting is also greatly facilitated by the Ring of Flame Resistance and Purple Flame Shield, which is one of the best shields due to its high absorption of fire damage.
- Flamelurker is weak to magic damage! If you have a weapon that deals magic damage, equip it for this fight. In addition, if you use magic, it will definitely come in handy in this fight.
- As for the armor, it will be better to choose lighter equipment. The boss is agile and his attacks are quite fast. Therefore, it is important to be able to easily avoid his attacks, which would be impossible with a higher load.
- The arena has two gaps with lava inside them. If you step into them, you will receive fire damage, so be careful not to lose your health in a stupid way.
How to defeat the boss in close combat?
The boss will attack you in an aggressive way from the very beginning. An important tip is to fight Flamelurker while being directed towards him. Hitting him from behind makes sense when he's performing an attack that involves creating an explosion. However, remember that the boss often bounces backwards, which also causes damage to your character if you do not dodge or block it!
If you realize that you made a dodge at the wrong time, try to block the attack immediately after the dodge. If you have Purple Flame Shield, you will be able to block virtually all damage at the expense of your stamina. Since you are already attacking the boss, do not interrupt if you see that the attack slightly unbalances the boss. At this point, he is vulnerable to attacks and can not do anything.
Usually the boss will attack by waving his arms. Sometimes he will hit the ground, causing an explosion in a small area. You can block the blast with your shield or dodge it. Usually, after a few attacks, the boss jumps back. This is the perfect opportunity to heal yourself if you've got any injuries. However, remember that when you are away from the boss, he will most likely jump towards you, so if you want to use healing, shorten the distance between your character and the boss.
How to defeat the boss at a long range?
Fighting Flamelurker at a distance is much easier compared to the close-range combat. It is recommended to equip the bow/crossbow along with arrows/bolts dealing magic damage, then avoid his hits and moving away from him each time.
If you use spells, the task is even easier, since Magic itself deals him a lot of damage. Keep this in mind so as not to be surprised when he jumps towards you during the fight. He can go a considerable distance and he performs the jump quite quickly. While avoiding his attacks, do not go into the gaps with lava as it will inflict fire damage.
