On this page of the guide to Demon's Souls Remake you will learn how to complete chapter (4-2), Shrine of Storms in the location called The Ritual Path.

After defeating the Adjucicator, go down using the stairs to the left. On the outside part of the stairs is an item you can collect.

After picking up the item, go inside the room. There you will meet a merchant from whom you can buy various items.

He will not appear here unless you have released him from his cell on Island's Edge (4-1). You can buy some healing items from him and move on.

After acquiring items, go down. A cutscene will play once you open the gate. In the process, you will see how the Reaper-like enemy creates large ghosts. Ghosts themselves are not difficult to defeat, as their attacks are very slow and strongly signaled, but they're also quite numerous. If you kill the Reaper, all the ghosts in the location will be destroyed, and no new ones will appear.

The Reaper is on the lower floor. If you want to freely explore the location, kill him as soon as possible. You can jump down on him from a higher floor - the attack from above will hurt him quite badly. In this case, however, you will receive damage from the fall. You can also go down the stairs and confront him face to face, but this option is much slower, and also risky, because you have to face his ghosts.

No matter what option you choose to kill the Reaper, all ghosts will disappear after you defeat him. Then enter the platform visible in the screenshot to unlock your path further.

Before you go to the door you just opened, though, go inside the room. You'll recognize them by the colorful stones. Patches will be in the middle of the chamber, unless you killed him first. When you get close to the abyss, Patches will deceive you again. In the cutscene that will play here, Patches will push you to the lower floor.

At the bottom, on one side you will see a Red Phantom, and on the other an NPC, Saint Urban, who after talking to you will go to the Nexus, where he will offer much better miracles. Take care of the Phantom before you go to Urban. He is very easy to defeat - simply block his attack, and then approach him from behind him and attack until the stamina runs out. The Phantom will be stunned the whole time you attack him.

Then pick up all the items that are located at the bottom and talk to Urban. Next time, you'll find him in the Nexus. Now head towards the wooden door, open it and climb the stairs to the top.

While you're upstairs, stand on the button. After a while, the door will open, and Patches will be behind it. Talk to him and you'll get a new ring.

After leaving the chamber, you will find the staircase entrance to the right. This is exactly where you need to go, and then up the stairs.

At the top there is an illusory wall, which will vanish when you hit it; it's shown in the screenshot. When it's gone, you can come down.

Be careful, though, because there's a stronger skeleton at the bottom. Fighting it in a narrow corridor is not very easy, so lure him upstairs. When you defeat it, go down and you'll find yourself outside.

Go upstairs and collect all the items - these will be mainly souls and the White Bow with arrows. However, watch out for the flying enemies' attacks.

Then jump down, and you'll arrive back at the very beginning of the location. Return to the lower floor and go to the open door, which unlocked after you killed the Reaper and activated the button.

You're going to go outside now. It's worth putting the Thief Ring on here, which makes you harder to detect by enemies, because this way you will not be attacked by flying opponents, who are very annoying, because they make fighting against skeletons much more difficult. There are three or two skeletons fighting at close range and one archer. Try to provoke one of them to come up to you, kill it, and then take care of the other two.

After defeating them, keep going forward. Now there will be more skeletons in your way, and they will use a different kind of weapon. Provoke one of them, to avoid fighting two at once. Then, let them attack, and counterattack when they miss.

After defeating more enemies, go ahead, and then go through the fog.

Moving on, you will encounter more ghosts, but these are more dangerous than the previous ones. They are quite far from you, so they will attack with a green ray. It deals great damage and will push you back. There are three ways out. You can run towards them quickly, then dodge behind their backs and kill them, or block the laser with a shield, preferably one that blocks magic damage well. You can also kill them from a distance, using magic or a bow/crossbow.

When you encounter another such spirit on the stairs, defeat it, and then look right. Behind the pillars is a Reaper, and killing him will destroy all nearby ghosts, as well as prevent new ones from appearing. However, beware of the hole near the Reaper, because falling down will most likely kill you.

On the right side of the lower floor there are two items to pick up; watch out for ghosts that can attack you as you collect the items, though. Next, go outside.

Depending on what your tendency is, you may encounter Red Phantoms on your way. Again, try to provoke them into a one-on-one fight. Be careful, though, because these skeletons are much more difficult to defeat. You can also ignore them and run ahead.

Then go into the cave and defeat another ghost. Moving on, you will encounter one more, but the second ghost will attack with a laser.

It's best to defeat him at a distance, because the path is so tight that you won't be able to avoid his attack. Additionally, once you defeat the ghost, you will find out that on the left side around the corner there's a Reaper. Kill him as soon as possible so that no more ghosts appear.

Then go down, you will find yourself in a location full of water, snails and white spheres. Watch out for the white spheres specifically. They move in a fairly schematic way, so they are easy to avoid, however, when they get close to you, they will explode, inflicting very heavy damage. Therefore, when you are near, run away from them as fast as you can.

Don't be afraid to go in the water, you'll be fine. Watch out for the snails hidden inside, though. Collect all the items from the location, and then go to the other end of the cave, watching out for the white spheres.

At the very end, you will see the fog that will lead you to the boss fight arena. If you go in there, you won't start the duel right away. Pick up the item, and then go forward to start the fight with the Old Hero. A walkthrough of the boss fight can be found on a separate page of the guide.
