From this chapter of our guide to Deep Rock Galactic, you can find out more about Deep Dives - what they are, what are their main rules and what rewards can be obtained by completing them.
Deep Dives is an advanced end game mechanic available in Deep Rock Galactic, which can only be joined by those dwarves who have already advanced to a higher level of experience. Deep Dives are special weekly pre-prepared sets of missions with a certain level of difficulty, which can be divided into regular Deep Dive and Elite Deep Dive. Deep Dives is a great way to test your skills and unlock additional content in Deep Rock Galactic like cosmetic items and Overclocks.
Deep Dives - types, rules, difficulty levels
Deep Dives in Deep Rock Galactic are divided into ordinary Deep Dive and Elite Deep Dive. Each consists of 3 specific missions with two objectives to accomplish. Very importantly, in Deep Dives, all side objectives have been replaced by a second main objective. This means that both conditions must be met to complete the entire mission in Deep Dives. For example, a team may have to collect a certain amount of Morkite mineral and kill several Dreadnoughts.
After completing one mission, all players of the team are transferred to the next one with the same level of health, stock of ammunition and raw materials as they gained during the previous task. Due to this mechanics, Deep Dive can be considered as one long mission consisting of 3 stages.
If a player fails during a mission in any version of Deep Dives, then he will have to start another attempt from a scratch. However, all Blank Matrix Cores or cosmetic items collected will not be taken away from him.
The team will receive the total amount of credits and experience points, which they have gained in this complex task, only after all three Deep Dive stages have been completed.
Each Deep Dive has a randomly assigned difficulty level that cannot be changed. It is worth noting here that in Deep Dives there are also special Hazard levels that are not available anywhere else. Deep Dives can have the following Hazard levels:
- Ordinary Deep Dive - Hazard Level of 3, 3.5 and 4;
- Elite Deep Dive - Hazard Level of 4.5, 5 and 5.5.
You can only take part in Deep Dives once you have advanced your character to the higher rank. Dwarves without promotion cannot access the Deep Dives feature. Therefore, you cannot unlock this end game content with one developed character and play with another hero which has a lower rank. The player can pass all Deep Dives as many times as he wants, but he can only receive rewards once.
Deep Dives - Rewards
Deep Dives is undoubtedly the most difficult challenge in Deep Rock Galactic, and sometimes you have to work hard to complete all 3 missions, especially in the Elite variant. It gets even more complicated when unfavorable biome gets assigned to a single mission and difficult warnings such as lack of oxygen, complete lack of shield or increased power of enemy attacks.
For such an enormous effort you are well rewarded. Therefore, for every completed stage of Deep Dives you can obtain one of the random rewards:
- Blank Matrix Core, needed to win prizes from machine events;
- Second mission - one random Overclock for a weapon or one Blank Matrix Core;
- Third mission - one random cosmetic Matrix Core (can be used in The Forge).
The aforementioned rewards are available in both versions of Deep Dives so you can earn as many as 6 attractive prizes every week. It is also worth noting that if you already have all the Overclocks from the second mission, then you will always get the Blank Matrix Core.
