Clock Tower level in Dead Cell Dead Cells Guide

Last update: 28 August 2018

The following chapter includes information on the Clock Tower. Here, you can learn more about this location, threats and enemies that you can come across, see where you can go from here and what requirements you have to fulfill in order to do that.

Characteristics of the location

Clock Tower is one of the default locations visited during your playthrough, that is before you get certain runes that unlock alternate passages (they allow you to skip this location) - Clock Tower level in Dead Cell - Game world - Dead Cells Game Guide

Clock Tower is one of the default locations visited during your playthrough, that is before you get certain runes that unlock alternate passages (they allow you to skip this location). Later, in Slumbering Sanctuary, you will be able to unlock an alternate passage to Clock Tower.

Clock Tower is one of the two biome level 5 locations. This means that enemies here are even more powerful - some of them have access to abilities that can deplete a lot of health points or that allow these enemies to get closer to you fast. The structure of this location is rather unusual. It consists of up to four towers. Explore it by reaching higher floors. The towers are connected to each other by bridges that have teleports. These teleports can save you time when you decide to explore another tower.

Watch out for the spots where the hero can teleport to the other side of the doors. Situations where your character gets surrounded by enemies shortly after entering a new room are frequent here. React fast and try to move to a neighbor platform where you can plan your attack. You should also watch out for potential encounters with elite monsters.

Clock Tower almost always features a cursed chest. Opening these chests isn't always the best idea. You can lose a lot of progress because many monsters here have abilities that can hit you with ease. Traps won't work here.

Look for a room with a Clockmaker's Key. The picture shows an example of this chamber. Its interiors are always random but you will always encounter spikes and balls. Clockmaker's Key is necessary if you want to unlock the exit from this location. You will also need to find the right door. Then, you have to use the lift to go up, to the exit.

Clock Tower has one more locked door - Clock Tower level in Dead Cell - Game world - Dead Cells Game Guide

Clock Tower has one more locked door. You can open it with a Bell Tower Key. This item is more difficult to obtain - you will have to solve a puzzle with bells.

This map always spawns four large bells that are placed randomly. Find them, remember their location and try to unlock teleporters located near them. You also have to hit them with a melee weapon (remember their sound). To solve this puzzle, you have to hit the bells in the correct order - start with the quietest one and end with the loudest bell. This gives you the key that can open the secret room with a shield blueprint.

Enemies and other threats

Clock Tower has rather challenging monsters. This is caused by a few factors. One, the enemies encountered in this location have powerful abilities. Two, the layout of the map makes dodging difficult. Rushing to the higher floors isn't recommended. You should also watch out for the usual traps.

Note! The list below consists of monsters encountered on the normal difficulty level. Boss Stem Cells, received by defeating the final boss, unlock higher difficulties. After that you can come across new and more powerful versions of the monsters.

Description

Undead Archer - Clock Tower level in Dead Cell - Game world - Dead Cells Game Guide

Undead Archer

The enemy fires single arrows at you and then leaps backwards to increase his range. Roll under his arrows or crouch (the down button). An Undead Archer can be attacked with a ranged or a melee weapon (the latter is a better choice). You may also stun the enemy if he is part of a larger group of opponents.

Bat - Clock Tower level in Dead Cell - Game world - Dead Cells Game Guide

Bat

You will trigger the Bat once you get within its range. It ignores all walls and floors. It will take some time to charge at you and a red beam will determine the direction of the strike. The Bat will die from a single hit, so dodge the charging attack or strike before the enemy uses it.

Dark Tracker - Clock Tower level in Dead Cell - Game world - Dead Cells Game Guide

Dark Tracker

These monsters aren't that powerful. However, they can teleport and appear behind your back. They can also start tracking you if you decide to escape. Prepare yourself before you start fighting with Dark Trackers, e.g. place a few traps on a large platform. Lure this enemy to your traps so you can defeat him easier.

Bombardier - Clock Tower level in Dead Cell - Game world - Dead Cells Game Guide

Bombardier

Bombardier strongly resembles the Grenadiers found in the previous locations of the game. This monster also uses a grenade launcher, but the grenades it shoots scatter into several smaller ones. Avoiding all grenades can be more difficult, especially if you don't have much room for maneuver. Try to approach the Bombardier quickly in order to attack him in close combat and stop further grenades from being fired.

Cannibal - Clock Tower level in Dead Cell - Game world - Dead Cells Game Guide

Cannibal

These opponents focus primarily on hand-to-hand combat, where they can launch a series of three attacks with melee weapons. If you can't avoid them, you'll get a lot of damage. In addition, you must be prepared to avoid a single grenade that the Cannibal may unexpectedly leave behind.

Subsequent locations

The only way out from the Clock Tower leads to the Clock Room. The passage is located at the highest level, behind the door opened with the Clockmaker's Key. This exit leads to the arena with the second boss fight of the game (The Time Keeper).
