How to get to the Graveyard?

The graveyard is initially inaccessible and it will probably be the last location you will unlock in the game. The main protagonist needs to have the Spider Rune acquired at Slumberg Sanctuary - more details on that are covered by the How to reach inaccessible locations? - skill runes section of this walkthrough.

After you acquire the Spider Rune, begin a new game and choose locations leading to the Insufferable Crypt. There, you have to defeat the first "alternative" boss - Conjunctivius. Upon doing so, explore the area to the right of the arena on which you fought the boss. You should find there a vertical shaft (an example can be seen in screenshot 1 - the corridor layout is randomly generated). By bouncing off the walls you will reach the top corridor that will take you to the Graveyard (an example visible in screenshot 2).

The graveyard is a stage four location, yet it is a more challenging place then e.g. Stilt Village, due to the necessity of coping with stronger enemies and avoiding more traps.

Another resemblance to the aforementioned Stilt Village is visible in finding passages to separate areas of the map. Just to remind you, the symbols over the doors inform you what type of location they lead to. The hourglass symbol indicates an area with time door. The coin symbol indicates a vendor's place. The key symbol indicates a location with a key. The chest symbol indicates a location with treasures. Make sure to investigate the location with the key symbol, as it leads to the dungeon hiding the Graveyard Key. This key can be used to open the main dungeon at the graveyard allowing you to reach precious treasures and the passage to Forgotten Sepulcher.

At Graveyard, there also are the time doors that remain open for only 19 minutes and 30 seconds from the moment of starting the game. After this time, the door closes for good and you lose the ability to reach the hidden treasures. This secret location hides different rewards - these can include gems, gold, cells, scrolls, and unique weapons.

In a random place at the Graveyard, you can find the Architects key that allows you to explore the secret location - Graveyard level in Dead Cell - Game world - Dead Cells Game Guide

In a random place at the Graveyard, you can find the Architect's key that allows you to explore the secret location. An exemplary place where you can find it is shown in screenshot 1 - it is hidden behind one of the symbols on the walls that can be destroyed. You can use this key to unlock the door at the end of the map.

The secret location should hide the Merchandise Categories blueprint (more items to choose from vendors). That is not all, as you can climb the wall to the right and enter the secret tunnel leading you to the pressure panel. After you press it to return to the newly opened door. Jump on the ledge over it and climb the vertical wall using the Spider Rune. This way, you will reach a yet another secret location shown in screenshot 2 - there, you can find the Parting Gift blueprint (a mutation that makes the bombs to appear).

Opponents and other threats

When at Graveyard, you spend most of the time fighting monsters you already know from other locations. These feature mainly the strongest units making keeping your character alive even more challenging. Apart from the opponent you have to watch out for the traps - there are a lot of those, especially in the room with the key.

NOTE! Below description includes monsters encountered on default (normal) difficulty level. Acquiring new stem cells after defeating the final boss unlocks new difficulty levels. The same locations can thus hide new and stronger version of these monsters.

Appearance

Name

Features and the way of defeating

Purulent Zombie

This is a stronger version of regular zombies. Their unique feature is that upon dying, Purulent Zombies spawn Corpse Warms all around them. They can teleport and thus "track" your character. Be prepared for that. Luckily, the worms die quickly and are vulnerable to e.g. turrets.

Bat - Graveyard level in Dead Cell - Game world - Dead Cells Game Guide

Bat

A bat becomes active after you enter his range. It moves past walls and floors. For a moment, it charges a charge that is indicated by a red ray. The enemy dies after a single hit or after being shot by a ranged weapon. Just dodge the charge or attack while the bat is reloading the charge.

Kamikaze - Graveyard level in Dead Cell - Game world - Dead Cells Game Guide

Kamikaze

Very dangerous, flying creatures. By default, they are at rest (you can see them clinging to e.g. the ceiling) and activate after your character approaches them. As their name might suggest, Kamikazes commit suicide by exploding after approaching your character. If you do not dodge in time, you will receive a lot of damage. It is best to kill these monsters fast with melee or ranged weapons (best with something like the electrical whip that automatically targets nearby enemies).

Catcher - Graveyard level in Dead Cell - Game world - Dead Cells Game Guide

Catcher

Unpleasant monsters that can grab and pull your character. You can try avoiding them with jumps and dodges. It is a better idea to fight them from a distance or thrown grenades at them / set up traps on ledges occupied by the Catchers.

Inquisitor - Graveyard level in Dead Cell - Game world - Dead Cells Game Guide

Inquisitor

This opponent shoots projectiles that ignore walls, floors, and other obstacles. Dodging their hits might prove difficult and you can be hit by surprise. It is always best to approach the Inquisitor as soon as possible and defeat him with a melee weapon, as he is practically defenseless.

Slasher - Graveyard level in Dead Cell - Game world - Dead Cells Game Guide

Slasher

Slashers are dangerous opponents that use an enormous sword and mount up to three blows in one attack. The most troublesome is the last attack as it inflicts most damage and has the biggest range. When fighting these monsters remember to parry their attacks with a shield, use ranged weapons or traps (Slashers cannot move between ledges).

Masker - Graveyard level in Dead Cell - Game world - Dead Cells Game Guide

Masker

These are unique opponents as they do not mount any offensive attacks. Instead, their single ability is to nebulize a fog that makes nearby enemies nearly invisible (you have to strain your eyes real hard to see them). Killing a Masker causes the fog to disappear, however, you should not make haste to reach him, as he almost always has his own entourage. Keep on mind that monsters become visible after they perform an attack. You can "provoke" them to do so e.g. by setting up traps or shooting a ranged weapon blindly.

Other locations

From the Graveyard, you can only go to Forgotten Sepulcher. The entrance to this dungeon can be found in the part of the dungeons you explore after finding and using the Graveyard Key.
