Unlocking the side mission
The first opportunity to start this side mission appears in chapter 2: Intensive Care, i.e. when exploring Ishimura's Medical Deck.
You must reach the office of Dr. N. Brennan - SMO - it is located on level 1 and is adjacent to the Main Lab. Pick up the audio log in the office. Listening to the message will unlock the side quest.
Investigate Emergency Room
Set the side quest as active so that the locator can point you to places related to Nicole's investigation (instead of the current main quest).
You can only do the first objective of the mission after you've advanced enough in chapter 2 - you need to destroy the barricade in the main storyline.
By getting rid of the barricade, you will be able to reach the Emergency Room. Approach the table in its central part and watch the holographic recording.
Follow Nicole's hologram
Don't leave the ER - Nicole's hologram will walk away and suggest there is a secret room to be found.
Find a circuit breaker on one of the walls of the room. You must turn off the Lights fuse and turn on the Shower fuse.
Now examine the bottom right corner of the room. Use kinesis to unlock the entrance to the Emergency Shower - you have to move the wall shown in the picture.
You will find yourself in a small secret location. Find a new audio log here.
Find Autopsy Location in Engineering
You have to wait until chapter 3 for this mission objective, because this is when you will explore the Engineering Deck for the first time.
During the main quest of replenishing engines, you will reach the Calibration Room on level 4. A holographic recording of Nicole's autopsy report will play.
Finding Kyne's Mining Deck Hideout
The next part of the quest will become available the earliest in chapter 7 - Isaac will explore the Mining Deck for the first time.
You must reach the Equipment Supply corridor on level 2.
There's a circuit breaker at the end of the corridor - you can use it to open the side door.
Examine Storage 02.
In the second room on the left (looking from the entrance to the corridor), you will find an audio log lying on the mattress - listen to the recording.
Investigate Mercer's Quarters
You have to wait until you've advanced to chapter 10 to do the final objective of the mission - this is when you will explore the Crew Deck for the first time.
Make enough in the chapter to reach the Deluxe Quarters section at level 3. There you can explore the Guest Consultant's Suites.
In the quarters, approach the screens and watch the recording of Isaac's conversation with Nicole.
Go to the second room of the quarters and activate the console with Nicole's recording. Watching it will complete the side mission.
The rewards for completing the quest are:
- weapon upgrade (Force Gun) - it's on the table to the right of the console with Nicole's recording;
- Whole Again trophy - you get it by experiencing Nicole's entire investigation.
