Last update: 30 January 2023

This page of the Dead Space Remake guide contains a list of the best weapons along with information about their most important uses. We have prepared tips on which weapons you should add to the radial menu - you will always be prepared for various types of Necromorphs. In addition, we have prepared tips on how to upgrade weapons you use frequently and what to spend nodes on.

Inventory and radial menu - important information

In Dead Space Remake, just like in the original, you can carry up to 4 different weapons at the same time - Dead Space Remake: List of the best weapons - Basics - Dead Space Remake Guide

In Dead Space Remake, just like in the original, you can carry up to 4 different weapons at the same time. In the inventory window, you can place them in the slots of the radial menu to quickly select a given weapon with a single press of a button. You can also carry other weapons in your inventory if needed, but they cannot be quickly selected.

  1. Some weapons are useful for specific fights. Make sure your radial menu has a diverse arsenal for different types of situations.
  2. Isaac finds ammo for the weapons he has in his inventory. It's a good idea to switch between weapons often to gradually replenish your supplies for those currently unused.

If you have learned the weapons, you can limit their number in your inventory, e.g. to 2-3. This way, you will be able to find ammo for them more often.

Plasma Cutter

Plasma Cutter is the first weapon, found at the beginning of the game, but it is useful throughout the entire campaign, especially if you get its upgrades - Dead Space Remake: List of the best weapons - Basics - Dead Space Remake Guide

Plasma Cutter is the first weapon, found at the beginning of the game, but it is useful throughout the entire campaign, especially if you get its upgrades.

This weapon is ideal for severing the limbs of Necromorphs. Switching between normal and alternate mode allows you to fire horizontally or vertically and this can be helpful depending on what part of the body you want to cut off and where the monster is (e.g. sticking to a wall and "rotated" by 90 degrees).

Ripper

The Ripper is a weapon found in chapter 3 (Course Correction) and we recommend using it often right from the get go - Dead Space Remake: List of the best weapons - Basics - Dead Space Remake Guide

The Ripper is a weapon found in chapter 3 (Course Correction) and we recommend using it often right from the get go. It is also important to regularly upgrade it, especially the damage and duration of the blade (default attack).

This is an excellent melee weapon against larger types of Necromorphs - you can very effectively stop a monster from dealing you more damage while the blade will cut off its limbs. Just remember to activate the Ripper before a monster starts attacking - if Isaac is hit, the Ripper's attack may be interrupted and you will "waste" the blade.

Line Gun

Line Gun is a weapon found in chapter 5 (Lethal Devotion) - Dead Space Remake: List of the best weapons - Basics - Dead Space Remake Guide

Line Gun is a weapon found in chapter 5 (Lethal Devotion). Try to save its ammo and use it only when the situation calls for it.

This is one of the best weapons for fighting strong Necromorphs, as it deals a lot of damage. It can get even better if you buy its upgrades. The Line Gun also has a great alternative mode - it can place traps. Test it out in various fights, and use it in situations where you know that Necromorphs will attack you soon (you can also slow them down with stasis and then place a trap).

Pulse Rifle or Flamethrower

The Pulse Rifle can be found early in the game - in chapter 2 (Intensive Care) - Dead Space Remake: List of the best weapons - Basics - Dead Space Remake Guide

The Pulse Rifle can be found early in the game - in chapter 2 (Intensive Care). This weapon uses up its ammo really fast, but you can also come across it in larger quantities.

It's a pretty versatile weapon that you can use in a variety of situations. The rifle is useful for attacking smaller Necromorphs, but also, e.g. to cut off their limbs. Try to buy upgrades that will improve the rifle's firepower and increase its magazine.

You can find the Flamethrower in chapter 3 (Course Correction) - Dead Space Remake: List of the best weapons - Basics - Dead Space Remake Guide

You can find the Flamethrower in chapter 3 (Course Correction). Also, try to locate fuel schematics for it so that you can craft it yourself. This weapon quickly runs out of ammo.

The Flamethrower is most useful for eliminating small Necromorphs, such as crawling creatures or spider-like monsters. You can also successfully use it to kill Necromorphs with a big belly so that it doesn't get damaged and small monsters don't jump out of it. Unfortunately, the Flamethrower won't be able to stop the large Necromorphs - they can run up to Isaac even when they are set on fire.

Upgrading favorite weapons

Each acquired weapon in the game has its own development tree - Dead Space Remake: List of the best weapons - Basics - Dead Space Remake Guide

Each acquired weapon in the game has its own development tree. Initially, it is small, but as you find weapon upgrades (collectibles) in the game world, it will grow. Upgrades from the tree are interconnected - plan the order in which you buy them so that you don't waste nodes on less useful upgrades.

Don't try to upgrade all your weapons because you won't have enough nodes to do so. Focus on a few favorite weapons so that you can get their important upgrades early.

The most important upgrades are those that increase the damage (red color), because each of them increases the overall effectiveness of a given weapon. The choice of other types of upgrades depends on the weapon and your preferences. It is worth to, e.g.:

  1. improve the alternate weapon mode;
  2. be able to attack more often or longer (e.g. bigger magazine, longer duration of the Ripper's blade);
  3. buy special upgrades that can improve or change the performance of a given weapon.
