On this page of the DBD guide you will find a description of the 3-gen. From here you will learn what exactly it is.

Last update: 03 October 2022

On this page of the DBD guide, you will learn what 3-gen is and how to use it or fight it.

3-gen is one of the most comfortable situations for the killers. This is a phenomenon present in the endgame, in which 3 unrepaired generators remain on the map. The point is that they are very close to each other.

A killer's perspective

When such a situation occurs, enormous pressure can be exerted on survivors. This is because the killer can patrol all the generators very efficiently. It is therefore a win-win situation for the killer in most cases.

Of course, you are able to provoke such a situation yourself. If you see that there are 4 generators left on the map and one of them clearly stands out from the others, just leave it. Instead, focus on three that are close together. Usually, less organized teams composed of random people realize too late that they have made a mistake.

The situation may lead to 3-gen.

So when the 3-gen occurs, you are left to constantly patrol the broken generators. If you meet at one of them then drive it away and kick the generator. Don't continue to chase unless the survivor is headed for another generator or you are playing a highly mobility killer (e.g. Nurse and Blight)

A survivor's perspective

3-gen can be avoided. Just don't repairs generators as you go. If you have repaired one in the corner of the map, then instead of heading to the next one that appears in your line of sight, head closer to the center of the map.

If you've already led to 3-gen then getting out of this situation will be difficult. If you are only with another player, it will be virtually impossible. Tactics here can vary. The best thing to do is to fix the generator and run away the moment a killer appears on the horizon. Kicking alone (if the killer doesn't have the right perks) won't do much. When the killer leaves for the other generators, you can get back to work. However, you must keep in mind that this is a tiring and long process.

In case the killer is not interested in defending generators, then you can buy your companions some time. Just lead the chase to places where there are no generators. In this way, your companions will be able to repair the generators safely. However, it is better not to do this when you are on the second hook. This may cost you your life.
