Lothric and Lorian Dark Souls III Guide

Last update: 01 June 2016

In the first part of the battle, you will be only fighting against Lorian. He is vulnerable to frost attacks and a perfect weapon against him is, e.g. Iriithyll Rapier, which you might have obtained in Lothric Castle. It deals quick damage and causes frost damage. In combination with Pontiff's Right Eye, which increases damage, each of such combos can heavily weaken Lorian for as long as you dodge his attacks.

While near Lorian, watch out for his swings and frequent changes of stance.

Lorian mainly attacks with swings and sometimes he will try to hit you with an overhead slash (he will then stand up for a moment), which is a very dangerous AoE attack - make sure that you have performed a roll to the side beforehand. Apart from that, Lorian will often teleport and change his stance. For this reason, you have to be extremely careful and make sure that you have enough stamina to dodge or to block. The opponent disappears and appears elsewhere quickly. He attacks immediately afterwards, which is why you have to stay vigilant. If Lorian disappears and does not appear near you, look a bit farther for him- he is sure to be preparing the AoE attack.

In this phase of the battle, try to land 2-3 strikes before the boss disappears, to retain a bit of stamina for the moment when he is back and let yourself to perform a dodge. You stand a chance to stun the enemy with several slams to the head - approach him quickly then to land a shattering attack.

After you defeat Lorian, the next phase of the battle starts - his brother Lothric brings the boss back to life and mounts him. Lorian's attacks do not change here, but you will now have to defeat two bosses, each one with his own health bar. Your main focus here should remain the same and it should be to dodge Lorian's attacks. What makes things more difficult are spells cast by Lothric - one high-damage projectile and several smaller ones remaining in one spot of the arena which activate after Lorian teleports. You will then be exposed to physical and magic attacks. It is best then to escape to the other end or hide behind one of the pillars. You should be focused on Lorian, but you will have to defeat Lothric also, if you want to end the battle. For this reason, try to attack the back more often, because this way you will deal damage to the younger of the princes.

After you defeat Lorian for the second time, Lothric will fall off and kneel. This is a perfect moment to attack with everything that you have. If you manage to kill the younger prince, the battle will end. Otherwise, Lorian will stand up again, with Lothric on his back, but with fewer health points. Still, the battle will continue until you kill Lorian. Lothric will try to resurrect him again. This will repeat over and over again, until you finally kill Lothric while he is resurrecting the other prince.

Note: You can make the battle shorter if only you kill Lothric at any moment. You do not even have to defeat Lorian for the second time. To do this, you have to focus mainly on attacking Lorian's back with Lothric on. This way, you can keep dealing damage throughout the entire battle that ends at the moment you kill Lothric, regardless of how much health Lorian has left.

Before the battle, you can summon Sirris (if you have followed her quest) and Orbeck (if you gave him all of the scrolls and bought all of the spells, you can find his summon sign in front of the double doors to the boss arena) After you use them both, it is a good idea to focus on Lothric, while Lorian is attacking your allies, and strive for a quick victory.
