List of Inherent Powers | Vampiric powers DARK Guide

Last update: 11 May 2016

Instant Kill

EFFECTS: Performing a silent execution on an enemy unit.

USEFULNESS: high

COST: - (you don't have to unlock this power, because it's available from the start of the game)

COMMENTS: This is a basic attack and you'll be using it throughout the entire game to get rid of living opponents and ghouls.

UPGRADE 1/2 - QUIET KILL

EFFECTS: Less noise caused by a silent execution.

USEFULNESS: high

COST: 1 power point

COMMENTS: It's good to unlock this upgrade early in the game. It will come in handy especially in smaller areas where enemies are standing close to each other.

UPGRADE 2/2 - SILENT KILL

EFFECTS: Activating Instant Kill doesn't cause any noise.

USEFULNESS: high

COST: 1 power point

COMMENTS: This upgrade will become useful later in the game, because enemies will patrol the areas in pairs more often than before.

Shadow Leap

EFFECTS: Teleporting the main character to a designated destination.

USEFULNESS: high

COST: - (you don't have to unlock this power, because it's available from the start of the game)

COMMENTS: Teleportation is very useful when you want to avoid enemy units or reach areas from where it will be easier to perform surprise attacks on them. Make sure to upgrade this ability, because it causes a lot of noise by default (the noise can be heard near Eric's destination).

UPGRADE 1/3 - INCREASED RANGE

EFFECTS: Increased range of the teleportation.

USEFULNESS: high

COST: 1 power point

COMMENTS: It's a good idea to quickly unlock this upgrade, because Shadow Leap doesn't have a long range in its original form.

UPGRADE 2/3 - REDUCED COOLDOWN

EFFECTS: Shorter cooldown.

USEFULNESS: low

COST: 1 power point

COMMENTS: The only time when you can really use this bonus is when you plan on making two "jumps" within a short period of time, but that doesn't happen often. As a result the only reason to unlock this upgrade is to gain access to the one described below.

UPGRADE 3/3 - PERFECT SHADOW LEAP

EFFECTS: Second increase in range of the teleportation. Activating Shadow Leap doesn't cause any noise.

USEFULNESS: high

COST: 2 power points

COMMENTS: This upgrade requires you to sacrifice 2 power points, but nonetheless you shouldn't wait too long with unlocking it. A second bonus to the ability's range will come in handy in larger areas and since it won't make any noise anymore you won't have to worry so much about alarming enemy units.

Auspex

EFFECTS: Activating vampire vision.

USEFULNESS: high

COST: - (you don't have to unlock this power, because it's available from the start of the game)

COMMENTS: The biggest advantage of this ability is that it doesn't need any Vitae to operate and it means you can use without any restrictions (no cooldowns). Furthermore, activating vampire vision slows down the time.

UPGRADE 1/2 - CLAIRVOYANCE

EFFECTS: Ghouls and weapons are seen in the vampire vision mode.

USEFULNESS: medium

COST: 1 power point

COMMENTS: You don't have to unlock this upgrade right away. A good moment is the final part of the first chapter, because that's when you'll start encountering ghouls.

UPGRADE 1/2 - CLAIRVOYANCE II

EFFECTS: Cameras, UV lights and PDA's are seen in the vampire vision mode.

USEFULNESS: low

COST: 1 power point

COMMENTS: Just as before you should wait with the purchase until you've bought more important powers and upgrades. Plus you don't have to rely on vampire vision to find the PDA's, because their locations have been mentioned in this guide.

Feed

EFFECTS: Draining an opponent of his blood.

USEFULNESS: high

COST: - (you don't have to unlock this power, because it's available from the start of the game)

COMMENTS: Feeding on human enemies is the only way to regain Vitae needed to activate more advanced vampiric powers. An important thing to know is that you won't be allowed to feed off of armored guards and ghouls.

UPGRADE 1/3 - SANGUINARIAN

EFFECTS: Feeding takes less time.

USEFULNESS: medium

COST: 2 power points

COMMENTS: Having this upgrade lowers the chances of being exposed while trying to drain someone of their blood. Sadly, you must spend two power points instead of one.

UPGRADE 2/3 - SANGUINARIAN II

EFFECTS: Less noise caused by feeding.

USEFULNESS: low

COST: 2 power points

COMMENTS: This isn't a particularly useful upgrade. Since you can't hide when you're feeding you should still pick opponents standing far away from other enemy units even after you've gained access to this upgrade.

UPGRADE 3/3 - SANGUINARIAN III

EFFECTS: Two Vitae points are regained after a single feeding.

USEFULNESS: high

COST: 3 power points

COMMENTS: This upgrade is very costly, however it becomes extremely useful later in the game, allowing Eric to use all of his vampiric abilities more frequently and decreasing problems caused by encountering more and more armored enemies (as you probably remember they're "immune" to feeding).
