Correct graphical and sound settings may significantly affect the comfort of playing CrossFire, while contributing to attaining better results in the game. Below, several hints have been provided, to help you optimize those settings.

Graphics settings

Correct graphics settings are just as important as correct mouse settings. Graphics should be set, so as the game works smoothly. Playing comfort is much more important than visual effects. While tuning graphics to your system, you should take FPS (Frames Per Second) value into consideration, which is the number of frames that are displayed each second. It has become customary to believe that you require, at least, 100/sec. To attain this value and play comfortably, it is a good idea to choose your own comfort (seamlessness of the game) over visual aspects. For that, you decrease such parameters as:

1. Resolution.
2. Texture brightness.
3. Blood effect.
4. Weather effects.
5. Additional visual effects, such as smoke coming from bullet holes.

Sound settings

To a large extent, your success in CrossFire depends on sound,. Each action you perform (grenade toss, shooting, jumping) may give away your position, which is why it is so important to listen out for sounds of the surrounding. To ensure the best possible environment awareness, you should use headphones, instead of loudspeakers.

1. With your headphones on, you will be able to focus on the game and won't be distracted by your own surroundings;
2. The sound coming from loudspeakers may interfere with your microphone, which will deteriorate the quality of your communications with the rest of the team;
3. Acoustic properties of the room you are in may lower the quality of sound from loudspeakers;

Before you focus on game settings, it is a good idea to configure your headphones correctly. The below list provides steps to take:

1. Access Control panel and select the "sound" tab.
2. Select the loudspeaker icon and select "configuration" option.
3. In the window that pops up, select "stereo" channel and move on to further options.
4. Select the option of front-left and front-right loudspeaker
5. Accept the changes.
6. Return to "sound" tab and access "properties".
7. Access advanced settings.
8. Select the 16bit, 44100Hz option
9. If you are using advanced sound drivers, allow all additional effects, such as bass boost.
10. This way, your headphones will be properly configured.
