Castle of Cortex is the thirtieth board featured in the game Crash Bandicoot 4. On this page, you will find information about all gems, crates, secret levels. It also contains a detailed walkthrough.
Secret tape
Before starting the adventure on this map, you should learn an important information. Here you will find a secret tape that will unlock access to a retro level.
Remember, the only way to get the tape is if you haven't died even once. Additionally, you have to complete the map in order for the tape to be added to your inventory.
You'll get the tape at the end of the map, between the lasers.
Gems
You can get 6 gems on the map of Castle of Cortex.
You can get gems for:
- Getting 40% of all Wumpa fruits available on the map;
- Getting 60% of all Wumpa fruits available on the map;
- Getting 80% of all Wumpa fruits available on the map;
- Getting all chests - 170;
- Completing the entire map while dying less than 3 times;
- Finding the hidden gem.
Number of crates
You can get 170 chests on the Castle of Cortex map.
Walkthrough
At the very beginning of the board you will receive a terrain-modifying mask. It will move you to the next stages of level.
Remember, you can stand on the metal parts of the lasers. Nothing will happen to you there.
When you get a time-slowing mask, there are a few sequences where you really need it. In the first two cases, you can just run around the ground when you stop the platforms attacking you.
In the third case, stop the platforms so that the top of them allows you to crash further - for example in the middle of the terrain.
The fourth sequence is fairly straightforward. Stop the platform either at the beginning or in the middle. That way you can jump on it and wait for it to take you to the end.
The last case is not the most serious. You just have to stop the platforms so you can get to the middle. The slide and double jump option will help.
Going forward you will see the introduction to the final stage. You'll find yourself juggling masks and jumping on platforms.
When you get a mask that defies gravity, you have to get through the lasers.
Don't be afraid of the sharp platforms which are rushing straight at you. You can pass them by bouncing or squatting.
The last level is a real disaster. You constantly change masks, fly over lasers, avoid explosions and adversaries. You have to perfectly sense the character's movements to get to the finish line.
Hidden gem
You'll find the hidden gem just before the end of the map, waiting for you in the chest, right next to the lasers.
Secret level
The bonus level is located on the right side, immediately after the stages with the flying gears.
