Do you see those blue pillars of light above buildings in the Blackout mode? These are special crates with valuable contents. You will find interesting weapons and equipment there; as a rule, you have the chance to get fully upgraded weapons, often powerful sniper rifles like the Paladin HB50. In addition, you'll usually find a first aid kit and level 3 armor. In addition, you'll also find unique weapons such as:

1. Zweihander,
2. Essex Model 07,
3. Blaster,
4. MP-40.

If a mystery box is locked, you will find a mascot on top of it.

Location of the boxes varies from game to game, but almost always it will be either the Lighthouse and Asylum or the adjacent Cemetery (about 100m to the south). The map of locations where mystery boxes may appear can be found on the map in another chapter of the guide: Map and points of interest. Here are locations where a box may appear:

1. Asylum;
2. Cemetery near the Asylum;
3. Lighthouse;
4. Gas station west of Array;
5. Small town near the water, south of Rivertown; inside the building with a boxing ring.

An opened box.

To unlock the contents of the box you have to defeat all the zombies located in the zone. There may be a few or even a dozen of them. Small objects scattered throughout the location may be helpful: small monkeys with dynamite. They attract zombies to each other and then explode.

1. When you kill all the monsters, you will hear a characteristic sound of the opening box.
2. The box won't be waiting for you forever: you have about a minute to two to collect the content of the box. If you don't, the box will disappear.
3. The box also disappears when you take all its contents - it is accompanied by a child's laughter heard from a long distance and may draw the attention of other players to your location.
4. After a few minutes, there is a very good chance that the box will reappear in the same place: however, it is rarely possible to try to open it again, as it is usually in an area outside the zone.
5. The contents of an open box can be collected by anyone: it may happen that the opponent waits by the box until you do the dirty job for them and then steals the fruit of your labor.
