Info and advice | Blackout Mode in Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Guide and Tips

Last update: 22 October 2018

Blackout is a newly introduced in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Battle Royale mode. It's divided into 3 groups:

  1. Solo fights - you're in there alone: 1 against the other 88 players;
  2. Twos - you fight in pairs: from 1 to 100 players
  3. Fours - teams of four - 1-88 players

Compared to the classic multiplayer mode, in Blackout the character doesn't matter - you create your own hero or choose one of the unlocked characters, but none of them have skills - all players are equal. Your goal is to survive on the map as the last player (or team) standing to win. Remember that in team modes Friendly fire is enabled.

Interface

The interface in Blackout is much different from the one from Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's multiplayer.

1. The direction is given in degrees of rotation angle: very useful when you want to show allies the exact direction in which an opponent or interesting object is located.

2. Mini-map: you can change it to round or square from the game settings in the menu. A square map gives lets you see a slightly larger area. Below is the time to start the next reduction of the game area.

3. Player information: level of health and armor. If you play in two/four there is a list of all players and information about the availability of voice communication.

4. Health level and currently selected healing object and type of armor on the right.

5. Information about the weapons held and the number of magazines and bullets. Next, to it, there is information about the currently equipped gadget/grenade, and to the left (empty field on the screen above): do you have a backpack on your equipment (additional 5 fields in your inventory).

6. The number of other players on the map is shown here and the skull is marked with the number of kills you have committed. In two/four, there is also a broom icon: then the skull indicates the number of enemies knocked down to the ground, and the broom indicates the number of struck enemies waiting for revival (so if you are not sure if the just shot opponent managed to hide crawling behind the cover, look at this icon).

The Blackout game model

  1. Once the match has started, choose your starting position - jump out of the airplane and land at the desired location. If you want to get off immediately, hold down the action key before starting the airdrops.
  2. Search the action area and buildings to find weapons and equipment.
  3. The goal of the game: eliminate the last player - the person who remains the last on the battlefield wins; not the one who kills the most opponents.
  4. Hide or fight with other players: over time, the game area decreases: you have to stay in the zone, otherwise you will get killed.
  5. During the game, you can use medical treatment and constantly find new items and adjust your equipment.
  6. Points (experience) - you gain these for survival and for frags. Each killed enemy is 10 points; survival in the first 15 is worth 50 points. Additionally, by realizing challenges you will gain at least 25 additional points for each stage. Victory in solo competition is guaranteed by 100 points. In four of them, you will get additional points for the best 5 and it will be 50 points.
  7. The most important thing: find your weapon as soon as possible. Those who like gathering must refrain from lifting everything, especially at the beginning of the game. Remember also that the amount of space in your inventory is limited (although you can find a common backpack, which will expand the capacity by 5 slots).
  8. The full match lasts 25 minutes until the last zone is closed.

General advice (Solo and team)

  1. Don't ignore the enemy - don't be afraid to use all your equipment to defeat your opponent.
  2. Armor: don't get into any fight without armor. It's best if it's at least level 2; the first one doesn't give almost any protection. Lifting a new armor replaces the old one. You will see the level of endurance of the armor above the health belt.
  3. Observe the environment - a strangely left vehicle? Broken glass and open doors? Enemy may be nearby: check windows and activate additional packages in case of danger.
  4. Cover your tracks - like above; an effective hiding place is one where the opponent does not expect anything. Do not collect everything from the floor, do not knock out the glass, close the door behind you.
  5. Drop boxes: Usually you will find something useful in them, but they also attract other players. It's a good idea to lay low for a while by the chest and collect its contents only after a while, knowing that you're safe.
  6. Hearing is your most powerful weapon: good playing headphones are essential. When you first hear an opponent, behave quietly (crouching is effective but does not eliminate the noise completely).

The first aid kit in the form of red-and-black first-aid kits can always be found in secret backpacks that sometimes appear in random locations.
  1. Advanced medical package: sometimes you can find a large first-aid kit (red/black). Apart from the fact that it cures full health, it additionally adds 2 health bars at once (+50 HP). These packages are not grouped: each of these first-aid kits occupies one place in the inventory.
  2. For healing, bandages, first aid kits and first aid kits are used. Each of them restores more health with the use of the chosen treatment method, but the use of the chosen treatment method also takes more time.

As you will notice on the radar, at the end of the game the last area disappears and the other players are equally exposed to zone damage, so everyone tries to be in the middle of the last circle and take the damage as late as possible. With this you can break down this pattern...
  1. At the end of the game you have two options to choose from: you can try to kill the last player, or when the last area is narrowed to zero, try to last as long as possible. This strategy will be effective only if you have a lot of first-aid kits (preferably advanced) and the following advantages will be useful: Outlander (reduces the amount of health that you lose outside the zone), optionally Medic or Consumer (both speed up the use of first-aid kits).
  2. Every weapon you pick up after a killed enemy is always in a "raw" state - i.e. it does not have any accessories installed (and is usually not reloaded).
  3. Need to evacuate quickly from a tall building or helicopter? While exiting / jumping out, hold down the jump key. You will then reopen your wingsuit.
  4. In the game options you can switch between round and square radar. The square radar provides a larger field of view.

Teams of Two/Four

Simple markers on the map help to guide the team; it is good practice to set the marker as a proposed drop location for the team at the start of the round. - Info and advice | Blackout Mode in Call of Duty Black Ops 4 - Blackout Mode - Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Guide and Tips
Simple markers on the map help to guide the team; it is good practice to set the marker as a proposed drop location for the team at the start of the round.

In Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, in the Blackout mode, team clashes of Battle-Royale type are possible. In two - as the name suggests - you fight in pairs, in four - in a 4-person group. If you don't have voice contact, use marks on the map, especially at the beginning, to determine the starting point of the drop, and messages in the game.

  1. The game is much more dynamic, and if you don't have the opportunity to talk or a friend of the team, it can be very difficult for you to stay in a group. The game time is also shortened, because each start with a different group is usually a quick elimination of at least half of its members.
  2. It's worth choosing big locations so that all team members can collect the necessary supplies at the same time.
  3. In these, modes allies can heal themselves - if the player lacks health, he will be knocked down on the ground and can crawl. When an ally approaches, they can resuscitate you using the action key. It is important that you don't lean too far so that you don't expose your allies to injury or even death.
  4. If possible don't revive an ally until you secure the area. Revival takes a few seconds, which may be enough for the enemy to walk around you.
  5. Prizes for a match are equivalent as in single player mode, with the difference that in four games you get a TOP5 prize instead of an additional TOP15 prize. Awards will be given to you for your dead opponents (not just those knocked to the ground).
  6. When an ally/allies die, you can still try to win the game yourself.
  7. In the fours players often drive vehicles - finding a rocket launcher can provide a big advantage.
