The class can be adjusted from the lobby before the game starts, then you can only switch between the already created ones.

To change weapons, select the "Create Class" button when searching for a game. There have premade sets of equipment and weapon selection schemes, but you can customize them according to your preference. You gain more weapons and equipment with new levels of experience that is common to all heroes.

You can choose a class just before the start of the round or at any time - the change will take place in case of death. - How to change weapon and equipment of your class in Black Ops 4? - FAQ - Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Guide and Tips

  • Primary weapon (1): optics and available 3 (expandable to 4) accessories to improve weapon performance.
  • Secondary weapon (2): pistol, shotgun or rocket launcher; optional knife at a higher level. Each firearm can also have upgrades.
  • Gadget (3): by default all gadgets are unlocked and you can use only one of them. Go into the panel and read what bonuses you get for their use: this can be a better armor, a reduction in the number of streak points for a support reward or an improvement in the audibility of enemies.
  • Gear (4): When you reach higher player levels (from 29 and above) you will unlock the ability to choose other equipment than the default basic gear.
  • Perks (5): these are feature modifiers for the class. You can be undetectable for radars, move faster, or see enemy traps through walls. Upgrades are free, so use them wisely and never skip them.
  • Wildcards (6): these will be unlocked over time. Using a wild card unlocks one extra slot for perks or weapons upgrades (one card = one new slot); note that you need a special card for different slots. A wild card also takes up one upgrade slot.
  • At the same time you can have a limited number of upgrades (10) in the selected class. They are shown in the top right corner. Always get the most additional features out of your class, and over time modify anything available when you unlock new upgrades and perks. Think carefully about your strategy and don't ignore the free upgrades that can be used in combat.
