Assault Class | General hints Battlefield 4 Guide

Last update: 11 May 2016

Below you will find a set of commonsense tips for every Assault class player that will help you survive on the battlefield and work effectively with your team/squad. Use them to avoid making common mistakes made by many players, save yourself the frustration and, most importantly, avoid harming your team.

  • Pick your specialization early on and practice using gadgets.
  • Pick a rifle that makes you feel comfortable and unlock all of its accessories. Perfect command of a weapon suited to your capabilities will allow you to level up much quicker.
  • Once you feel comfortable with one weapon, try another that you have already unlocked! Not every assault rifle is suited for every task. The more weapons you test and learn to command, the greater your chances of picking the ideal rifle for the current situation.
  • Quick-firing assault rifles are not usually suited for greater distances. When in close quarters, don't be afraid to use automatic fire, but to try to control the spread.
  • Slower-firing rifles are usually good for longer distances and deal greater amounts of damage, but are less useful in close quarters. When attempting to eliminate a distant target, switch to single or automatic firing modes.
  • Mounting a powerful scope on a rifle will not automatically turn it into a sniper weapon substitute. Descending trajectory of bullets and their weakening over increasing distance will make sure of that.
  • Using an automatic sight is like shooting from a keyhole. As soon as possible, unlock and start using collimators and medium-range telescopic sights.
  • Don't reload after every kill unless you're absolutely certain there isn't another enemy around the next corner. The reload speeds of assault rifles aren't among the shortest ones.
  • If a team member asks the squad for healing or has been killed while you're around, don't ignore him! Helping him will not only let you score bonus experience points, but you'll also help you team win.
  • Before reviving a teammate, make sure the area is safe and the downed soldier isn't too far from your position. By acting rash, you may not only waste time, but also lose your life, and with it the precious points for your team. One dead soldier is better than two.
  • Don't forget you may also use you defibrillator as a weapon. In serious situations you may save on your own life for a change.
  • Charge the paddles of the defibrillator for several seconds before use to increase the amount of regenerated health.
  • If you hadn't got the time to charge the paddles, throw a medkit at the wounded soldier to help him regain full health quicker.
  • Aim before throwing a medkit. It will fly further and be "drawn" to the target.
  • Remember that a medkit works only on a single target.
  • Drop medic bags in pivotal spots, as close to your teammates as possible - and preferably several at once.
  • Don't drop a medic bag right in front of a firing teammate. It will only disturb him.
  • If your assault rifle isn't compatible with an underslung grenade launcher or a shotgun, don't mount an underslung rail - it's only a waste of an accessory slot.
  • When using flash or smoke grenades, make sure you know where you want them to land. Their aim is to help your team, not blind it.
  • Adjust your field upgrades to your favorite gadgets. Grenade launchers or shotgun don't go well with the Combat Medic.
  • Adjust your camouflage to the surroundings. Assault class soldiers are always close to the front, so wearing bright colors will only get you killed.
  • When trying to shoot down a distant target, try to switch the firing mode to single or burst. Uncontrolled automatic fire will only have you waste your ammo and allow the enemy to get a lock on your location.
  • Suppressor and/or an underslung shotgun will be your best helpers when flanking enemies.
  • If you wish to break through a corridor filled with enemies, a rifle isn't going to be enough. Use a grenade launcher to clear the area.
  • If you wish to confuse your enemy, throw a smoke grenade in the direction opposite of what your plan entails. The enemy will expect you to come through the cloud of smoke.
