Conquest | Game modes Battlefield 1 Guide

Last update: 01 February 2017

The conquest mode is the flagship of the Battlefield series. Here battles take place on the largest maps, with all vehicles taking part in the combat, from cars, through tanks, all the way up to zeppelins and armoured trains. This has been the cycle's most popular and most renowned mode for years.

The goal of each team is to take over flags - Conquest | Game modes - Game modes - Battlefield 1 Game Guide

The goal of each team is to take over flags. To capture one of the flags, you must be within the radius of a certain point. This radius is not clearly stated, as each point differs from others. On the largest maps it can even be up to 100 meters from the flag itself. The capture zones are marked on the minimap with a brighter field.

To capture a specific point you must simply reach its area. The more allies are supporting you, the quicker you will be able to capture a given flag. If hostiles are present in the vicinity of the point, than the difference is counted. If there are two soldiers from the same squad in the capture zone, then the speed will be the same as in the case of a single soldier. In the case, when identical numbers of players from both sides of the conflict are present, the flag will not change its status.

If you are in the flag's capture zone, above the name of the point there is a blue and red bar. It shows the ratio of players within the point. This information can be very useful on the battlefield, as seeing this ratio and the number of allies around a certain flag, you can assess the number of hostiles to eliminate.

The players can respawn on captured points, which makes defending them significantly easier.

The team receives points for all flags which they control. The team which will be the first to gather 1000 points, or will have more points after 45 minutes, wins. These values can be modified by server admins.

If during a battle one of the teams is being dominated, it will receive support in the form of a zeppelin, an armoured train or a dreadnought.

Tips

Very often you will see players in the conquest mode, who only run around the map trying to capture flags without considering, that those they have just seized are already being recaptured by the enemy. This is not a valid strategy, it will be of very small benefits to your team, as flags are captured only for a moment and the player spends a lot of his time on running around. It is much more viable to pick one or two flags and focus on them through the entire game. Let us take a look on the Sinai Desert map.

We can pair the points together here - Conquest | Game modes - Game modes - Battlefield 1 Game Guide

We can pair the points together here. Flag A together with B, C with D and F with G. Only point E we will consider separately, as it is far away from the others. During the battle pick some of the points and fight for them, regardless of whether it requires attacking or defending the points. This way you will be of much more value to your team, than you would be while running around from point to point. Of course, you do not have to stick to just one choice for the entire game. You can adapt to the conditions on the battlefield. Remember to bring equipment appropriate for the terrain around the points that you have chosen. The AB and FG pairs are mostly open areas, where a sniper rifle might prove very useful. When considering points C and D, you will notice that they are mostly urban areas, which will force you to fight on short distances; the rifles of the Assault, Medic and Support classes will be prefect here.

The conquest mode usually features numerous vehicles - Conquest | Game modes - Game modes - Battlefield 1 Game Guide

The conquest mode usually features numerous vehicles. They are capable of making an enormous difference on the battlefield. If you want to capture a flag, which does not have any good cover around it, search for a tank, a car, or ultimately a horse. This will allow you to at least have some cover. As infantry, on such a point or in a desert you are a very easy target for enemy snipers, tanks and pilots.

Both while attacking and defending a flag it is extremely important to maintain control over the area around the flag, not just in the capture zone itself. Which is why, if you are attacking a flag, do not charge right in to capture it, but first focus on the areas around it, where enemies can be hiding. Patience is key here, as well as being thorough, while checking the most crucial hiding spots. Similarly, while defending a point, do not stand too close to the flag. Find a relatively safe position, from which you will have good vision. If the enemies are too numerous, pull back and wait for the rest of your team to respawn, and then attack together.

If you die, you should always try to respawn on a captured point, a teammate or a vehicle. This will allow you to return to the fight as quickly as possible.
