System requirement of ATLAS ATLAS Tips

Last update: 23 February 2019

The Atlas game has decent graphics and enormous terrains, filled to the brim with objects and in theory requires a computer from the middle shelf to properly run the game. However, due to the fact that the game is still in the Early Access phase, the optimization of the game is not that good, causing the game to have huge frame drops even when played on a PC meeting the recommended requirements.

Minimum requirements

To be able to run the game relatively smoothly in 108p, with medium settings, or in 720p with high settings, you should have at least the following specs:

  1. OS: Windows 7/8/10 (64bit)
  2. CPU: Intel Core i5-2400 (3.1 GHz) / AMD FX-8320 (3.5 GHz)
  3. RAM: 4GB
  4. GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 / AMD Radeon HD 7870 (2GB)
  5. HDD: 100 GB

Note: it is worth to install the game on an SSD, as it increases the comfort immensely and minimalizes the impact of loads and stuttering. The only problem is the "weight" of the game.

Recommended requirements

To be able to run the game smoothly in 1080p with all of the options set to the maximum, you should have at least the following specs:

  1. OS: Windows 7/8/10 (64bit)
  2. CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K (3.4 GHz) / AMD Ryzen R5 1500X
  3. RAM: 8GB
  4. GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 / Radeon RX 580X (8GB)
  5. HDD: 100 GB

Note: it is worth to install the game on an SSD, as it increases the comfort immensely and minimalizes the impact of loads and stuttering. The only problem is the "weight" of the game.

Our hardware

The following guide was prepared based on the PC version of the game and the PC with the following specs was used:

  1. OS: Windows 10 (64bit)
  2. CPU: Intel Core i5-3470 (3.2 GHz)
  3. RAM: 16GB
  4. GPU: GeForce GTX 970 (4GB)
  5. HDD: the game was installed on an SSD.

Notes: the game ran in stable 30 FPS, in 1080p, in high/ultra settings. However, heavy frame drops occurred quite often and frequently in places where the drops should not happen (on an open terrain, without objects to render), which clearly happened due to the poor optimization. In order to run the game in stable 60 FPS, the graphics had to be lowered to low/medium.
