In Astroneer, vehicles are very helpful in exploring the planets. Thanks to them, you move much faster and you don't have to worry about oxygen - every vehicle is a source of oxygen, so you don't have to place oxygen tethers. The simplest vehicle isn't difficult to create - you can do that shortly after starting the game. On this page, you will learn how to create a Tractor in Astroneer.
How to create a Tractor?
The Tractor is the basic vehicle in the game. You can't place any objects on it, and its energy reserve is small - but it is easy to craft meaning that it is excellent for the beginning of the game. The following steps explain in detail how to create this car.
Each vehicle requires energy to work. Each crafted vehicle can be charged by connecting the cable directly from the main base. If you want to cover longer distances, you need to figure out how to get energy outside of your shelter. Check the "Energy" page to learn more about this topic.
Unlock the Tractor in the Research Catalog
To build a Tractor will need to learn its blueprints in the Research Catalog. This vehicle costs 1,000 bytes - search the surrounding areas and collect Research Sample. Thanks to them, you will quickly get the required number of bytes.

Get Aluminum
Besides the blueprint, you need another 2x Aluminum - you need it to build the vehicle. Aluminum is received from a resource called Laterite - you have to place it in a Smelting Furnace.

Build a Small Printer and create a Tractor
The last step is to build a Small Printer. You can craft it directly in your backpack by using Compound material - this resource is very easy to get and it is possible that its deposits are near your base. Now, place the Small Printer on any platform and then build a Tractor. Your vehicle needs to be recharged (otherwise it will not move) - the easiest way to do this is by connecting the cable from the main base to the vehicle.
