Freelancers | Anthem Agent Missions Walkthrough Anthem Guide and Walkthrough

Last update: 11 March 2019

This page in our guide to Anthem focuses on side missions (called Agent Missions) related to the Freelancers faction. Besides the usual rewards, completing these missions will give you loyalty points for a given faction.

How to unlock new Freelancer Agent Missions?

The Freelancers kiosk is in the northern part of Fort Tarsis - Freelancers | Anthem Agent Missions Walkthrough - Agent Missions - Anthem Guide

The Freelancers' kiosk is in the northern part of Fort Tarsis. Meet with Yarrow to get new missions. Every time you go back to Fort Tarsis, be sure to check if there is a head or a contract icon on the map. Both icons inform you that a new Agent Mission for Freelancers is available.

This kiosk also has an option to check your Freelancer reputation. This topic is described broadly in Reputation and factions chapter.

What Freelancers Do

The first Agent Mission for Freelancers is mandatory - it is part of Lending a Hand Story Mission - Freelancers | Anthem Agent Missions Walkthrough - Agent Missions - Anthem Guide

The first Agent Mission for Freelancers is mandatory - it is part of Lending a Hand Story Mission. Meet with Yarrow in Fort Tarsis - you are ordered to protect NPCs performing seismic testing. Start an expedition.

Fly to the first location. Reach the Arcanists' camp and help them with the device. Defend yourself - try to stay in the green zone. Remember, you can hover a bit above the ground. This will help you shoot enemies and avoid their attacks.

After that, go to the second location where seismic tests are taking place - Freelancers | Anthem Agent Missions Walkthrough - Agent Missions - Anthem Guide

After that, go to the second location where seismic tests are taking place. Search the destroyed camp - examine the device on the ground. This activates a radar. Follow it and you will find Arcanists. You also come across Scars - eliminate them. Watch out for the Scar Scout (these units are deadly at a distance), and on the Enforcer.

Examine the cage where the Arcanists were kept. Follow a new lead - move from one mission marker to another.

You reach Scars camp - Freelancers | Anthem Agent Missions Walkthrough - Agent Missions - Anthem Guide

You reach Scars' camp. Watch out for the turrets. Avoid their fire and try to destroy them right after the battle starts. Your main goal is to destroy 2 stockpiles - you can do that by using offensive skills, shoot missiles at them or, e.g. use melee attacks.

You also need to eliminate all nearby enemies, including a new type called Scar Leader. Try to deplete his shield first and then use your most powerful attack to kill him before his shield regenerates. Look for cages with Arcanists and rescue them (interact with a panel on the side of a cage).

Go to Rythes Work Site - Freelancers | Anthem Agent Missions Walkthrough - Agent Missions - Anthem Guide

Go to Rythe's Work Site. There, you will face more Scars. After that, examine the camp.

You now have to find Rythe - reach the entrance to the small cave (presented in the picture). Inside, you will face more enemies, including a mini-boss called Steel Cutter. Keep this enemy at a distance. You can use your Ultimate to weaken the enemy faster. Reach the place where Rythe was defending herself - this will end the expedition. Go back to the fort and speak with Yarrow.

Contract: Protection Duty

You can get this contract from the notice board near the Freelancer kiosk (you dont have to speak with Yarrow) - Freelancers | Anthem Agent Missions Walkthrough - Agent Missions - Anthem Guide

You can get this contract from the notice board near the Freelancer kiosk (you don't have to speak with Yarrow). Contracts don't focus much on a story. They have random objectives which means that when you replay the same contract (e.g. when you are playing with another player) you can have different mission objectives. These missions can be about, e.g. rescuing hostages from scorpions, or defeating bandits who stole a valuable cargo.

A Favor to Ask

Meet with Yarrow - he asks you to get mementos from fallen Freelancers - Freelancers | Anthem Agent Missions Walkthrough - Agent Missions - Anthem Guide

Meet with Yarrow - he asks you to get mementos from fallen Freelancers. Start an expedition and go to the first marked area. You need to eliminate 12 predators. This shouldn't be difficult for you to do. Hover above the ground to make this fight even easier. After eliminating the enemies, start a fire in the place where the monument is.

Go to another location. Defeat more monsters. This time, you also have to kill Wyverns. Your objective is to collect 4 Links. Use the radar to find corpses of Freelancers (see the picture above) and get mementos from them. After searching two bodies, new monsters will appear - be ready to attack them. After collecting all mementos, go to another monument and set the fire.

Fly to the third site - Freelancers | Anthem Agent Missions Walkthrough - Agent Missions - Anthem Guide

Fly to the third site. This place is overrun with bandits. You also have to retrieve stolen devices. Eliminate the bandits first and then look for the items marked by the game. Lastly, set the fire. You receive a message about a new group of bandits - they are led by a mini-boss. Use your best abilities (including the Ultimate) to defeat them.

Fulfill Yarrow's final request by reaching the last monument. Interact with it to complete the expedition. Meet with Yarrow in Fort Tarsis to complete the mission.

A Cry for Help

Yarrow asks you to find the missing Strider - Freelancers | Anthem Agent Missions Walkthrough - Agent Missions - Anthem Guide

Yarrow asks you to find the missing Strider. Start the expedition. Go to the place where the Strider is. Once you get there, defeat a group of Wyverns. Firearms work best against them but you can also use your offensive abilities.

Head to the inactive Strider, go inside and speak with Freelancer Diggs. You need to collect 4 Tools. Use the radar to find them (the picture above shows one of the locations). Go back to Diggs.

Go to the ambush site - Freelancers | Anthem Agent Missions Walkthrough - Agent Missions - Anthem Guide

Go to the ambush site. You don't have to fight with monsters in this area. Focus on searching small camps - the radar will lead you to them. You will find a Strut in one of them. Go back to Diggs.

Fix the Strider by installing these parts - Freelancers | Anthem Agent Missions Walkthrough - Agent Missions - Anthem Guide

Fix the Strider by installing these parts. You get a new objective - protect the Strider. You need to defeat wolves - both "regular" and unique versions that can freeze your Javelin. Hover in the air and shoot them from a distance.

Once the wolves are dead, you will be attacked by an Ursix. The game will also block the respawns. Start fighting this mini-boss, and remember to dodge the rocks thrown by the enemy. After that, meet with Diggs one more time. To finish this expedition, move away from the repaired Strider. Speak with Yarrow in Fort Tarsis.

Overdue

Yarrow informs you that Freelancer Diggs is in troubles once again - Freelancers | Anthem Agent Missions Walkthrough - Agent Missions - Anthem Guide

Yarrow informs you that Freelancer Diggs is in troubles once again. The Fort has lost the contact with his Strider. Start an expedition and go to the place where the contact with Diggs has been lost. Follow your radar. Watch out for the nearby Wyverns. Reach the attacked Strider and look inside the machine.

Keep following the radar - you will reach Scars camp - Freelancers | Anthem Agent Missions Walkthrough - Agent Missions - Anthem Guide

Keep following the radar - you will reach Scars' camp. Start fighting. Watch out for stronger enemies - Scouts and Enforcers. After defeating them, open 2 cages to release Arcanists.

The captives inform you about a powerful enemy. Start tracking it down. You need to reach the Scars' bigger camp. Prepare for another battle. Start the fight by focusing on attacking enemies. Soon, you will receive an objective in which you will have to destroy Hives.

After defeating the enemies, look for a hole in the ground (see the picture above) - Freelancers | Anthem Agent Missions Walkthrough - Agent Missions - Anthem Guide

After defeating the enemies, look for a hole in the ground (see the picture above). It leads to Scar Mine - this is a separate location. Keep following the radar until you reach the room with Stolen Cargo.

The game will now block the option to respawn - Freelancers | Anthem Agent Missions Walkthrough - Agent Missions - Anthem Guide

The game will now block the option to respawn. Your next enemy is called Voraxes the Swarming - a mech. Keep using attacks that will deplete the machine's shield and armor. You should also move around to avoid getting targeted. Besides the mech, you will also be attacked by regular Outlaws. You have to eliminate them, too. However, if they aren't attacking you, leave them for later. You can also look for a chance to use AoE attacks when the Outlaws stand near Voraxes.

Defeat the mech and the enemies to finish the expedition (try to reach the loot chest before you leave this place). Meet with Yarrow in Fort Tarsis.

Tempting Target

Yarrow asks you to meet with Arcanists that were attacked by Outlaws - Freelancers | Anthem Agent Missions Walkthrough - Agent Missions - Anthem Guide

Yarrow asks you to meet with Arcanists that were attacked by Outlaws. Fly to the research camp. Defeat the Outlaws.

Once the area is secure, focus on finding 3 clues - your radar will lead you to them. After inspecting all of them, listen to the conversation with Arcanist Elsin.

You can now head to the main ruins - Freelancers | Anthem Agent Missions Walkthrough - Agent Missions - Anthem Guide

You can now head to the main ruins. Find the entrance to The Bane Engine. Go to the main room and defeat a large group of Outlaws. Watch out for elite enemies, e.g. Rocket Troopers.

Your next objective is to find 4 Echoes (see the picture above). Take them to the construction in the center. Deliver all the Echoes to open the large passage.

1 - Freelancers | Anthem Agent Missions Walkthrough - Agent Missions - Anthem Guide
Watch for mines - you can destroy these mines from a safe distance by shooting at them - Freelancers | Anthem Agent Missions Walkthrough - Agent Missions - Anthem Guide

Watch for mines - you can destroy these mines from a safe distance by shooting at them. Solve a simple puzzle to open the large door. Go back to the previous entrance and find two symbols drawn on it - they are presented in the picture above (the game can pick different colors). Memorize them and select the same colors on the interactive gate near the locked passage (on the gate's left and right side). Do that, and you will unlock the gate.

Reach the small Arcanists camp and speak with Elsin. Go back to the main room.

Time for another battle - you have to defeat a large group of Outlaws - Freelancers | Anthem Agent Missions Walkthrough - Agent Missions - Anthem Guide

Time for another battle - you have to defeat a large group of Outlaws. The respawns are blocked here. Besides the regular Outlaws, you will also face a mini-boss using a shield. Destroy it and then try to defeat the mini-boss before it regenerates the shield.

Win this battle to end the expedition. Go back to Fort Tarsis and speak with Yarrow.

Bad Deal

This mission becomes available after completing the main storyline - Freelancers | Anthem Agent Missions Walkthrough - Agent Missions - Anthem Guide

This mission becomes available after completing the main storyline. Yarrow wants to interrupt Outlaws' auction. Start an expedition and go to the marked location. Search the chests and then go to another area. Interact with the cargo marked by the game (see the picture).

It is a trap. Fall back to somewhere safe - you will be more difficult to surround. Use nearby covers.

Go to the auction site - Freelancers | Anthem Agent Missions Walkthrough - Agent Missions - Anthem Guide

Go to the auction site. The game will block the option to respawn. Eliminate all Outlaws and retrieve 3 fragments. Don't rush towards the artifacts - this is an open area which means that you can become an easy target for your enemies.

The enemy will receive reinforcements every time when you pick up a fragment - Freelancers | Anthem Agent Missions Walkthrough - Agent Missions - Anthem Guide

The enemy will receive reinforcements every time when you pick up a fragment. You get a new objective - eliminate the Buyer. This enemy has a shield - destroy it as fast as you can. Use your most powerful attacks when the enemy isn't protected.

Continue fighting with the Outlaws. Among them, you will find, e.g. Enforcers and Frost Brutes. Fall back or hide in the ruins if your health drops down. Win this battle to end the expedition. Speak with Yarrow in the Fort Tarsis.

Impostor

Yarrow wants to deal with Diggs - Freelancers | Anthem Agent Missions Walkthrough - Agent Missions - Anthem Guide

Yarrow wants to deal with Diggs. Your objective is to find and eliminate him. Start an expedition and go to the place where Rythe wants you to lure Diggs out.

The battle is already on. Join the allies and start eliminating the Outlaws. Watch out for the elementalists. If Rythe falls down, you can revive her. However, this is not a mandatory step - you can win the battle with just your party.

Go to Diggss hideout - Freelancers | Anthem Agent Missions Walkthrough - Agent Missions - Anthem Guide

Go to Diggs's hideout. It is located in one of the dungeons - The Necropolis. Examine the location. You will encounter Outlaws in one of the first few rooms. You should also watch out for Turrets.

Destroy the generator to free Freelancer Hopkins (see the picture above). Follow him.

Soon, you will reach the Outlaws lair - prepare for a new fight - Freelancers | Anthem Agent Missions Walkthrough - Agent Missions - Anthem Guide

Soon, you will reach the Outlaws' lair - prepare for a new fight. You can rescue more Freelancers - this is not a mandatory step. If you still want to do that, destroy generators behind their back. If any of the Freelancers falls down, you can approach and revive them.

This will be a long battle. Some of the enemies (including legendary variants) won't spawn right away. Luckily, you can fly here. This location also has a lot of spots where you can hide and, e.g. regenerate your health back.

Fly to the next room - Freelancers | Anthem Agent Missions Walkthrough - Agent Missions - Anthem Guide

Fly to the next room. The game will block the option to respawn. Start attacking the regular Outlaws - their leader will come soon. You can help the AI-controlled Freelancers or you can focus on fighting alone/with your party.

Avoid touching the electrified floor - it can inflict negative status on your character and overheat your Javelin. Attack enemies from the air or reach the opposite end of the room where you can destroy the power generator (see the picture above).

Kill enough enemies to make Diggs come out - Freelancers | Anthem Agent Missions Walkthrough - Agent Missions - Anthem Guide

Kill enough enemies to make Diggs come out. Focus your attacks on him. Deplete his shield. After that, you can start taking out his yellow bar. Use your best abilities, including the Ultimate, to eliminate him.

Win this battle to end the expedition. Meet with Yarrow - the man wants to thank you (meet him later at the bar to continue celebrating).

Freelancer contracts

Contracts, side missions that you can do in-between the story missions or after you are done with all Agent Mission, appear on the notice board near the Freelancers kiosk - Freelancers | Anthem Agent Missions Walkthrough - Agent Missions - Anthem Guide

Contracts, side missions that you can do in-between the story missions or after you are done with all Agent Mission, appear on the notice board near the Freelancer's kiosk. You don't get these missions from Yarrow.

Contracts don't focus on story. They have random objectives meaning that two contracts with the same name can be completely different. They may require you to, e.g. rescue innocent people before they get eaten by scorpions, eliminate Outlaws who stole valuable cargo, retrieve Freelancers' gear or destroy enemy ammo supplies.

After you complete the game, you can get both standard and legendary contracts. Legendary versions are a bit more complex (e.g. you may be required to complete a series of battles with legendary enemies or mini-bosses). However, these contracts will reward you with better loot.
