The Fortress of Dawn | Anthem story missions walkthrough Anthem Guide and Walkthrough

Last update: 28 February 2019

The Fortress of Dawn is one of the Story Missions in Anthem. Your objective is to visit the titular Fortress of Dawn. There, you will have to complete two trials - both of them require you to face powerful enemies (e.g. a Titan).

If you can, try to complete this mission with other players, even if you were doing all other Story Missions alone. Winning these two battles without support can be difficult (even if these players are picked randomly by the game). Also, if you upgraded all your Javelins, Colossus will be your best choice here.

Reaching the Fortress of Dawn

Start an expedition and head to the Fortress of Dawn - The Fortress of Dawn | Anthem story missions walkthrough - Story missions - Anthem Guide

Start an expedition and head to the Fortress of Dawn. After entering it, you won't be able to fly for a moment. Eliminate Dominion forces - watch out for the rocket turret.

Next, you have to destroy 5 Anchors (one of them is presented in the picture above). Don't rush towards them - the game will block the option to respawn. Also, more dangerous enemies, such as Dominion Storm Brute, will appear. Use your Ultimate when your life is in danger or when you are in a bad spot.

Your new objective is to destroy the Dominion Gate - you need to destroy another two Anchors located on the sides of the Gate - The Fortress of Dawn | Anthem story missions walkthrough - Story missions - Anthem Guide

Your new objective is to destroy the Dominion Gate - you need to destroy another two Anchors located on the sides of the Gate. After that, you will be able to fly again.

Exploring the Fortress of Dawn

You can now enter the Fortress of Dawn - this place is a separate location - The Fortress of Dawn | Anthem story missions walkthrough - Story missions - Anthem Guide

You can now enter the Fortress of Dawn - this place is a separate location. Besides following the mission marker, remember to look around for, e.g. chests with loot.

Follow the radar to the object. Examine Funerary Vessels and the large stone tablet at the base of the statue (see the picture). Place the ring into the tablet.

Defeat Titan

This starts the Trial of Might - you have to defeat the Ancient Ash Titan - The Fortress of Dawn | Anthem story missions walkthrough - Story missions - Anthem Guide

This starts the Trial of Might - you have to defeat the Ancient Ash Titan. The game will block the option to respawn so be very careful.

The key to defeating the Titan is to fight at a medium or long distance. Attack the Titan with your most powerful attacks when the enemy tries to use its moves. Depending on the attack, you need to target different body parts - usually, you will have to focus on hands but sometimes it will be the back or the chest. You will know where to attack - that body part starts glowing and burning. You don't have much time to deal damage so use weapons with high damage or fire rate.

Watch out for the Titans attacks - The Fortress of Dawn | Anthem story missions walkthrough - Story missions - Anthem Guide

Watch out for the Titan's attacks:

  1. Beam attack - The Titan shoots a beam from its chest. This attack deals a lot of damage and can be controlled by the Titan. Avoid it by hiding behind the pillars.
  2. Radiation - The Titan emits circles that expand with each second. This attack can go through constructions - it will damage and overheat your Javelin. Jump over these circles, fly upwards and stay at the right altitude or stand in the lowest point of the arena (the circles will go above you - see the picture).
  3. Homing fireballs - The Titan shoots out fireballs (their number is the same as the players) that move towards the player automatically. Hide behind the pillars or use Colossus's shield to protect yourself.
  4. Explosion - This attack is used when you are high above the Titan or when you are standing behind a cover. A light will appear in the place where you are standing - after about 3 seconds this light will cause an explosion. You can easily dodge this attack but do that when you notice the light beneath you.
  5. Summoning enemies - The Titan can summon creatures that will move towards you. These enemies explode when they get close to the player. Colossus's shield will protect you from their attacks. Other classes must either run away from them or destroy from afar.

Don't forget to help other players. When you are about to revive someone, be sure that the Titan isn't facing your direction - the enemy can use this moment to deal you damage.

Switch to another weapon when you run out of ammo, or start using offensive skills more often - you can use them as many times as you want (remember that they all have a cooldown) - The Fortress of Dawn | Anthem story missions walkthrough - Story missions - Anthem Guide

Switch to another weapon when you run out of ammo, or start using offensive skills more often - you can use them as many times as you want (remember that they all have a cooldown). Ammo and medkits can spawn on the arena. They can appear when you deal the Titan enough damage (the picture above shows an example of these items).

When the Titans health drops to a certain level, the enemy will enter rage mode. Avoid all of its attacks by hiding behind the pillars. Let the enemy die in a huge explosion. Collect the loot dropped by the Titan and go back to the exit.

Defensive mission

Continue exploring the Fortress of Dawn - The Fortress of Dawn | Anthem story missions walkthrough - Story missions - Anthem Guide

Continue exploring the Fortress of Dawn. You must find another stone tablet. Interact with it to start Trial of Resolve. This is a defense mission - you need to defend the point from enemy forces. Respawns are blocked here, too.

Defend yourself in the area marked with green circles (you will gradually go back to the gate). Each of these locations requires you to fill the progress bar. Don't let the enemies get inside the green area. This won't stop the bar from filling up. Instead, the bar will go slower, meaning you will have to fight for a longer period of time.

Dont use your Ultimate too early - The Fortress of Dawn | Anthem story missions walkthrough - Story missions - Anthem Guide

Don't use your Ultimate too early. Each new wave will be more difficult to defeat than the previous one. Sadly, the fights are taking place in an open area. Hide behind barriers to regenerate shields. Try to equip your Javelin with an ability to create shields or have a teammate with this skill.

You need to defend 4 different areas. If you survive until the end, you will complete the Trial. Open the chest with loot and then go through the portal.

Reaching the Javelin of Dawn

Go through the Fortress one more time - The Fortress of Dawn | Anthem story missions walkthrough - Story missions - Anthem Guide

Go through the Fortress one more time. You will reach a new stone tablet. The third Trial doesn't involve fighting. Watch the cut-scene.

The expedition is now over. Go back to Fort Tarsis - meet with Faye and Haluk.
