How to get Masterwork Equipment in Anthem? Anthem Guide and Walkthrough

Masterwork equipment constitutes the highest weapon level that one can acquire in Anthem. They are marked with orange and, alternatively to worse versions of the same weapons, bear unique names. They also offer four random bonuses.

There are four bonuses offered by Masterwork weapons. If you find one of these, you will be notified about it during the presentation upon completing the expedition.

Masterwork equipment is much rarer loot than other weapons. Nonetheless, in theory, you should be able to get a full masterwork equipment - without it it is nearly impossible to play the game at the 2-3 Grandmaster difficulty level.

The first step to unlocking the ability to acquire orange items is to increase Javelin's strength to Epic (purple). Without it, the chance to acquire masterwork items is extremely low. You can increase the Javelin level by installing the most powerful modifications (marked by the highest number in the upgrade icon, in the Forge).

The best way to acquire a lot of masterwork items is to play Strongholds as much as possible - they offer the highest chance of getting the masterwork pieces of equipment. Upon reaching level 30, you will be able to set the higher difficulty level - 1-3 Grandmaster that will highly modify the difficulty of the game (you will not be able to kill opponents with a single blow), nonetheless, you can be nearly sure that you will receive at least one masterwork item during a raid.

1. There is a chance to acquire unique items in the Freeplay mode, when completing the encounter events, and defeating strong enemies either on the map or when completing missions - the Chance to get them from the drop is however significantly lower.
2. Important: there is a much higher chance to find a piece of equipment that you currently have on you. So if you use different weapons that you would like to find in the masterwork versions, do not carry those that you have found as unique pieces.
