This chapter in our guide to Anno 1800 continues the main campaign. Your colony needs iron to start producing ships and cannons.

Any Old Iron/Moving Mountains
You need iron to develop your colony. Click on the iron deposit nearby and then on the rocks blocking the passage. You need to destroy them - this won't be easy. Finish the first step of removing the obstacle. You will need 25 planks and 25 bricks. Send 25 farmers to start the works.
The second and the final stage of removing the rocks requires you to, e.g. free the demolitions expert. After that, you need to complete the corresponding mission to make this character appear on your island.
The Demolitions Expert
You need a demolitions expert to remove the rocks. Click on the mission and you will move to another island. A dynamite shop is in the north - click on the building and then watch a short cut-scene.
The next step is to keep clicking on the prisoners until you learn which one of them is the demolitions expert. Pay 5,000 gold coins to free the man. After that, this NPC will be transported to your island.
By destroying the rocks, you get access to iron depots. This, in turn, unlocks a very important industry branch. Build an Iron Mine, get charcoal, build a Furnace and Steelworks. This will give you access to even more advanced buildings. Sadly - the new buildings require more workers. This means that you have to build more houses and be able to satisfy the needs of your population. Remember, the more people you have, the more food they will need - be sure to have the right amount of bread, sausage, fish, etc.
When you start producing steel, you will be able to build a Weapon Factory. This facility allows you to produce cannons. They are crucial for your fleet.
Get enough steel and cannons to be able to start producing ships ordered by Archibald Blake. You need to make three different types of ships: Schooner, Gunboat and Frigate. Once they are done, move them to Archibald's port and sell the ships.
Follow a Smuggler
Choose one of your ships and sail to the place near the lighthouse. Your task is to follow the boat by keeping the distance. Don't sail too close it. Soon, you will reach a small cove.
The last objective is to sink the ship and avenge your father's death.
Father's Diary/Kashina the Wordly-Wise/The Pyrphorians
Pick up the item left by the destroyed ship. Read your father's journal. Next, move to the lighthouse and then to Archibald. Give him your father's journal.
Mission to the New World
You unlock a special expedition that will take you to the New World. Take a lot of food, a few cannons, and passengers (that is if you have any) - they will increase the chance of having a successful journey.
Your expedition will have a few special encounters - you will have to make a decision during them. Try to choose the options that have icons - items and people on board your ship will increase the chance of succeeding.
You finally reach the New World. This is the end of the second chapter.
